The book is mentioned in the new juxtapoz article about Mark. It does say that there will be a trade edition released at a later date. Probably only after all those expensive collectors editions are sold.

I think it's silly to sell a book for $1K. Limited edition of 1000 copies? Come on Mr Ryden, that's a million bucks for the run! It's a damn picture book man, granted it's got some nice pictures but your alienating your fan base. I think I'm not such a fan anymore.

The pricing of Ryden's limited Pinxit edition is completely in line with Taschen's extensive line of collector's editions, as you can see here. These editions have proven to hold their value over Taschen's 30-year history as a publisher — wealthy book collectors line up for their release, and with this one coming out at Miami Basel, I doubt it will be an exception. The collector's edition is huge at 15x20 inches and 366 pages, bound in calfskin in a clamshell box, with more than a dozen foldouts that open to 60 inches across. Anyway, per Taschen's usual system, a more modestly sized trade edition will come out next year so everyone can enjoy it.
For anyone who's interested in the December 1st release, here are complete details from Taschen on the Collector's Edition and Art Edition.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking well, that's good for Taschen, wealthy book collectors and Ryden but what about the calfs?

That print looks pretty nice. I'm glad for Ryden's success and appreciate his pricing toward the serious collector, but I'm disappointed to see the absurdity in the amount the proofs produced of it.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus I found out more about the art edition at the Taschn website. Its actually $6000 and the artwork is a blasted silk screen not an original way to over priced for what it is!

Many of his collectors such as myself are serious collectors, ones who cannot make the list of his ever growing waiting list of originals at decent prices, who have to go third market to find originals that we dont know are real or not because its hard to get a hold of him. So making this a bit more acessible would be a bit more helpful for us. Though he is a very cool and down to earth person in person, and has helped out many of his fans, but this is a wee bit too much.

And the clams... 1k for a book 6k for a book and print is way way way overpriced however you try and paint it. I note that a lot of those book sets are not sold out, even for those artists much more established in the 'real' art world than ryden.
