Shawn sent me images of some of the new paintings for the show. All I will say is that they are incredible and Shawn is a total perfectionist. Like any Shawn Barber show this will not disappoint and I advise anyone in the SF area to check it out for themselves. Here is one of the Barber's I have in my collection. Nice...can't wait for this one. Is Shawn strictly going to do tattoo pieces now? I own a few of his doll series canvases, thanks to joshua, and i absolutely love them. Would be cool to see Shawn revisit the doll series, perhaps even a tattooed doll series  ......best of luck with the show! |

Steve, Shawn does the occasional doll piece here or there for group shows but I believe he is focusing on the tattoo works for his solos, with the exception of the one time body of work he did for the Anathema show at Last Rites. I too enjoy the doll and skull series as well as the tattooed portraits so it would be nice for him to continue doing those as well. |

Josh, are you at liberty to inform us if Shawn's piece at your up coming group show is a tattoo themed piece or doll or something all together different?

It will be a tattooed portrait, a head study of the artist Jo Harrison. It is a 24 x 18 inch oil on canvas that will be arriving at the gallery this week. It's really cool watching Shawn's progression over the past few years, it just gets better and better. Something tells me that his work will be highly sought after in the years to come. Keep it up Shawn!
