Sarah will be in town from Toronto to do a nice mural she's already planning out and shooting me over sketches of and Dabs Myla will be packing our project room with close to 20 new works recreating the chaos of Tokyo (show is based on the duo's recent trip to Tokyo and the photos they took while there) with a mural behind the works that will add to the overall viewing experience. Really looking forward to this one. More soon...

I'll be updating the sneak peek sets for both artists early next week - Dabs Myla are finished up with all the work for their show and working on "3D elements" to accent the work they informed me - can't wait to see what those are!
Sarah's show is on the way to us and should be arriving next Monday and we'll take it over to the framers right away. She land's from Canada on Mon, Aug. 30th to start work on her mural (as Dabs Myla go to town in our project room). Look for a good bit of coverage on both murals coming together soon.

Dabs Myla "Golden moments with Fuji and the Yokai" - 18 x 22 inches - Acrylic Juxtapoz just posted a great lil' interview with Dabs Myla: www.juxtapoz.com/Features/back-talk-dabs-myla"Dabs Myla are a pair of Aussies who relocated to LA last year. In a very short time, they’ve skyrocketed in popularity, having collaborated with top street artists like Augor and Rime, while working feverishly in their Hollywood studio to prep for their upcoming solo show, Tokyo Deluxe. The pair is infectiously energetic and genuinely kind. They truly love art and get along like two peas in a pod." - Juxtapoz.com Dabs and Myla in their studio finishing up the installation elements for 'Tokyo Deluxe'

Sarah Joncas 'Siren Song' - 14x18 - Oil on canvas Hunt&Gather just posted a great interview with Sarah Joncas here: www.huntandgatherart.com/2010/08/hunt-interviews-sarah-joncas.html“The most striking thing about Sarah Joncas’ work is how immensely this artist has improved over the past three years; each painting demonstrates stronger technique and more diverse subjects.” - Hunt&Gather

“Hell bent on asserting their mastery of the site specific installation, they are upping their game by mixing painted wall scenes with the painted cutouts including multi-layered elements as well as two-sided hanging pieces. One question that is often asked of artists is ‘how do you know when you’re done’ ? With respect to installation work, Dabs Myla’s answer is simple – work right up to the very last minute making as much as is humanly possible. That dedication sets them and their whimsical installations apart.” - DailyDujour.com Check out pics from Daily Dujour’s studio visit with the duo here: dailydujour.com/2010/08/31/studio-visit-dabs-myla-tokyo-deluke/

Dabs Myla's work was just spectacular and made me think twice about a genre that I usually don't care for. Painterly, creative, thoughtful and interesting. And I got the Japanese theme of the show. Wish my favorite pieces weren't already gone, but not surprised. Seeing these live really gives as different impression from the digitals, which don't do the artists' skill justice. Favorite show this year at Thinkspace.

Thanks Weezy! Those two really wanted to impress and turn things up going into 2011 and did just that and then some. Up next they'll be rocking a piece for our 5 Year Anniversary show this November and then they'll be rocking 'Primary Flight' again this Dec in Miami during Art Basel which will then take them into a small solo up at M Modern Gallery in the spring followed by a solo in our main gallery space in the summer (which they are already starting work upon)... Check out this commissioned 'wedding proposal' piece they did for the show: Video of the big proposal moment will be posted on our YouTube this coming week - was pretty amazing to be a part of and the whole place was cheering and applauding when she said yes. So cool!
