This looks good... Opening on November 12th is the Idol Hours. The Idol Hours exhibits a collection of truly talented, fresh and exciting artists from the New contemporary art scene we all love. Artists such as Joe Ledbetter, Luke Cheuh, Yoko D'holbachie, Bob Dob, Yumiko Kayukawa and so many more. "Each artist has selected a historical piece of art that has personally inspired their modern day career as a contemporary artist, and they have recreated it in their own way."      |

Went to the opening of this show yesterday, and it was an all round very dope event.
I was extremely impressed by not only the concept of the show and work on display, but also the vibe and the turnout.
This was easily one of the best group show ive been to in the UK from a UK based gallery, and to me personally it feels like we finally have a gallery that is specifically pushing low brow/pop surrealism/ new contemporary (or whatever you want to call it) properly, with the right attitde and a focus on getting the right calibur of artists. Ive have found that over the last 6 months London Miles shows have just gotten better and better, and after the thinkspace collab show and this one yesterday it seems like the gallery has come into its own.
I met Tina the curator/manager as well who seemed very cool and passionate about her work. Galleries are a bussiness at the end of the day so its in her interest to be nice, but I thought she was an excellent representatve for the gallery.
Amazing pieces on show, especially the Ken Kierns, Tiffany Liu (who i dont usually like), Luke Chueh, matthew bone, Nom Kinnear King, and the Tom Bagshaw piece was easily my favourite and I usually have no time for digital art. His piece was epic.
I know this must sound like an advert haha, but for someone who usually has to settle for buying pieces from images online, its great to think that im going to be able to see great work in the flesh and hopefully enjoy loads of more great show like this one. After yesterdays show, i have alot of faith in the direction the gallery is going and hopefully they get supported and can keep going.
Props to London Miles, keep it up.

glad to hear the show had a goof turn out grit. did you grab any pictures?
someone was asking me if there was a picture of tom bagshaw's piece.... i like his work too based on looking at jpgs, but also understand it to be digitally created rather than painted, so i've never got past that previously. how did it look? is the appearance and output similar to ray cesars work? is the work a one off or editioned?
i always miss the london miles shows as i travel to london for art shows on thursdays.... seems that every other gallery apart from this one opens on thursdays.

Yeah the turnout was really solid. I was glad to see the show so well supported. I didnt pick up any pieces because im in the middle of paying off 2 of the biggest purchases ive ever made, so i didnt want to cripple my self any further. However they got a show next month with Victor Castillo and Luke Kopycinski, and Ive wanted a Castillo piece for a while, so Im gonna get a piece if there is something that grabs me. I 100% want to support the gallery and what they are doing, so I will definetally be making a purchase from them soon. Actually if the Bagshaw piece hadnt sold already I would have been extremely tempted. I think it had been mounted on wood and was also varnished with no glass. I think it had Acrylic embelishments or something, but i couldnt work out exactly what they were. If you look at the show card you can see spots of paint, which is all I could see it could be when looking at the piece in the flesh. The piece looked as close to a painting as i have ever seen digital work, and in my opinion looked less digital than anything I have seen of Ray Ceasar. It was a 1 of 1 piece, which also made it more appealing. Whilst it was digital work, it felt very much like an origianl piece of work just like anything else at the show. I have always loved Toms work, but I personally have no time for prints, hate things behind glass (i know thats wierd), and am extremely fussy about digital work, but seeing this piece 100% changed my entire opinion. I would have not issues at all purchasing a work like this and considering it the same as any painting I own. It was amazing.
