Our next exhibit is Jeremy Fish's 'Listen and Learn', this will be Fish's second solo show with the gallery. For this impressive project, Fish gathered a selection of friends and acquaintances whose rich lives have engendered no end of interesting tales. The exhibition features assorted tales from a wide swath of contemporary life—including from artists, skateboarders, rappers, athletes, a stripper, a cop, and a historian—which Fish has reinterpreted in lovingly realized painted works. Rendered in acrylic on hand-cut wood panels, these thirty “story paintings” are accompanied by audio recordings of the source tales recounted by the original storytellers, available to gallery visitors on MP3 players and headphones mounted next to each work. You can view a video of several of Fish's stories he received which have been animated by Kamp Grizzly: joshualinergallery.com/preview/fish_listen_and_learn_june_21_2011/video/Below are sample images of several of the new works from the show. When viewing the works on our website you can listen to the audio of the story as told by the storyteller. Please contact the gallery directly regarding any inquiries. The Scariest Sound (as told by El-P) Acrylic on three hand cut wood panels 2011 45 x 35 in.
