This coming Saturday, October 22nd will mark my dear friend Tessar Lo's first European solo exhibition, "The Dying Wishes," at Jaski Art Gallery in Amsterdam (which you may recall is the gallery that represents Chris Berens). Tessar's dreamlike, introspective take on spontaneous primitivism likely holds a certain appeal for a fine art gallery that has long specialized in avant-garde abstraction, particularly the work of artists associated with the mid-century CoBrA movement. For Tessar, the prospect of showing his work in such a venerable gallery has provoked a flood of creativity, generating his most powerful body of work to date. On the eve of our departure for the Netherlands, Tessar sat down and gave me his thoughts on what is moving him these days and where those inspirations are taking him. > Go to interview. "in contrast to the bright orange sky just 1000 hopes ago" "after the blur, chaos and guardian face" "in the dark we danced and your hand became a plane that took us high and far away" "some things to consider, before you, turning white"

Congrats again, Tessar! "after the blur, chaos and guardian face" is also one of my favorites. I read the interview on your blog yesterday, commandax. Thanks for posting that:)

went by the gallery earlier today, and was pleasantly surprised with the work I saw.. I usually dont like using the phrase "photos don't do justice", but in Tessar's case, I have to.. cause seeing these works on the screen and in person is a whole new experience.. first of all, it's the actual size of these works that is making them so much more appealing, not to mention the color palette, all the details, the way the paint was applied to the canvas, and the overall playfulness of the images.. here are some low quality iPhone pics I snapped (I'll do better job on Saturday): btw, as far as I could tell, few pieces are already sold, and couple are on hold, so I'd suggest you to act quick if you're interested in any of them...

I guess I haven't been too familiar with his work, I really like all of those.

just came back home from the gallery.. it was lovely meeting Tessar AND Amanda, and seeing how well his work was accepted by the local art lovers/collectors.. the gallery was already quite busy early today, and everyone enjoyed the works.. the pieces look so nice displayed all together in a gallery, with similar motifs repeating on few of them, and incredible color palette.. here are some photos: more photos available here >

love his stuff. what are his prices like? Here are the price listings for the Jaski show. Keep in mind that these prices include 19% VAT, so if you're outside the Netherlands, his prices would be a bit lower.
