Please join me this Saturday, October 20th for the Andrew Hem: Dreams Towards Reality book release event at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra. After a year and a half of working on this project with Andrew, our big day is fast approaching! Besides having your book signed and embellished by Andrew, you will also be able to view the original artwork he created for the special editions and a mural designed especially for the exhibition. The Dreams Towards Reality clamshell edition, which is limited to 30 signed and numbered copies, is bound in luxuriously textured Japanese cloth, and the spine is embellished with the book's title written in Khmer script. Each clamshell holds a cloth portfolio that protects a mysterious and evocative drawing, many of which will inspire the paintings in Andrew's next exhibition. Hope to see you there!

At the last moment, Andrew decided to hand-paint each of the box set covers, rather than having them laser-cut. That means that each box set will include six original pieces of art, including a sculpture, four paintings and a matchbox collage. Please come out to Nucleus tomorrow night to get your book signed and check out the first box set edition, as well as the 30 limited edition drawings!

Is the painting on the clamshell edition of 30, or was this the super duper awesome edition you mentioned a few months back?

oh my, that book looks lovely.. I've been thinking that all along, but this last move made it pretty much irresistible.. Im taking that all the 30 clamshell edition ones are sold now... There are definitely some clamshell editions still available. They each contain an original drawing enclosed in a clothbound portfolio. Nucleus should have a preview of those available shortly, just shoot them an email and ask them to send it to you: info@gallerynucleus.com Is the painting on the clamshell edition of 30, or was this the super duper awesome edition you mentioned a few months back? The bamboo box set edition of 10 is the one that contains six original pieces of art. In addition to the original painting on the box lid, it includes a clamshell edition of the book that fits inside the box with an original painting enclosed in the portfolio instead of a drawing, as well as a smaller bamboo box embellished with handpainted text that contains a jar sculpture. But wait, there's more... a landscape painting, a character study, and a matchbox collage round out the set. It's beautiful.

Now that Andrew Hem's Dreams Towards Reality clamshell edition with graphite drawings has officially debuted at Nucleus Gallery, I can give you more details on the deluxe box set edition that is being offered through Zero+ Publishing. Created in an edition of just nine, each handcrafted bamboo box features an different character painted on the lid, and contains five additional works of art, plus a signed and numbered book encased in a clamshell. When you crack open the box, you will find an original 5x7 matted painting enclosed in a cloth portfolio, an assemblage of 12 matchboxes, a landscape painting, a small character portrait, and a jar sculpture inside a smaller bamboo box embellished with Andrew's handpainted text designs. Only the first edition (pictured) has been completed right now, but the entire edition will be ready for shipment by early January. The collection of six original artworks is currently priced at $2500, but Zero+ scales its prices higher as the edition sells out, so if you're interested, don't procrastinate... the edition is already more than half sold, sight unseen.
