I'm really glad she's taking her work in her own direction instead of continued focus on the Aiko-reworkings of the "bunny" and "butterfly girl" imagery. Digging the vibrant colors and her top notch collaging skills.
The only thing that really detracts from these pieces IMO are the focal point of the pieces - the lady in the first one really looks like my Aunt Barbara... no lie. However, the traditional asian women are probably there for a reason, as they are a contrast to the Japanese "working man" who looms/watches in the background.

AIKO is having her first solo exhibition in China. "Here's Fun For Everyone" is a collection of recent works on canvas, panel and prints made in Shanghai. The exhibition runs from September 10 -31 October at Andrew James Art. Will update soon with more images of artwork and installation views. Attachments:
