If I may say so, it is not that visually interesting either. I only know him from what you guys post on the forum so I am not really entitled to an opinion, but it would have been fun to see a crazy shaped bottle or something.

The Hennessy bottles suck. (Absolut makes beautiful artist bottles)
Iv loved the Absolut Vodka artist campaign for years, link to their Chiho Aoshima ad below.

Still have a few hand painted Britto Absolut bottles, he filled them with paint which has started to dry and crack. (in storage/garage)

Its a Hennessy bottle - not a KAWS bottle ;)

The challenge was that he had to work within the confines of the upcoming VS bottle. I think that constraint leads to an inevitable design problem - and thats the clash of the "old world" feel of the Hennessy elements and outright pop art language that KAWS speaks! Makes for a noisy label and almost requires a second look to notice KAWS work which would otherwise be recognized at a glance. Hey, they asked for it and they got it - Brian did what Brian does and considering the above mentioned constraints, I think he did well. Too bad (as Tom mentioned) it wasn't someone like Absolut that contracted him - the almost blank canvas they drop for thier artist series bottles is a hell of a lot more conducive to what KAWS does ... would have been one of thier better bottles IMO!

All that said - I'll buy some anyway. I'm a sucker for this breed of affordable conversation piece for behind my bar. Two of my favorites that I have picked up as of late were - the Jimi Hendrix Vodkas and the Ron English bottle for Absolut...

kaws is unashamedly a corperate artist though - the toys, the clothing line, the album art and so on. its not like he's 'sold out' or anything, he's as much a designer as he is an artist. the quote is ridiculously cringy though, what on earth happened there.

absolutely. kaws sold himself out a long, long time ago.
i just personally dislike seeing corporate hype masquerading as art through affiliation. give me a diy art project any day.
unfortunately, it seems to be an increasing trend though within this 'scene'.
