I may be moving back to Albania, and if thats the case, I'll definitely be attending. Probably just rent bikes and enjoy a few days cruising around seeing the pieces. Maybe go to the beach for awhile. This is old world Italy. And should be very cheap for Italy, EU, UK standards. Even from the US a dollar goes a lot further than anywhere near Rome and north
I really think Vhils will shine there, the buildings are perfect for his type of work.

This festival looked awesome last year. If I have time and find a place to stay in Italy, I may consider stopping by to partake in the art goodness.

Great lineup! Here is our coverage of the show last year for those interested. Need to attend one of these days. There were several members on here that went by last year.

It's one of my favourite swoon images too. Did you know the subject is her father?

It's one of my favourite swoon images too. Did you know the subject is her father? I didn't know that. I've heard that a lot of her drawings are portraits of her friends or people she knows, so I'm not surprised to hear that this is based on her father. Thanks for the background story :-)

I cannot recommend FAME highly enough. I won't be able to make it this year (damn school), but 2009 was an amazing week. Some of the nicest people and the best art that I've had the pleasure to be around. And of course, the weather was perfect. If you're the sort of person who would fly across the country or the world for a Banksy or Shepard Fairey show, then getting to FAME is just as worthwhile.

I always love these particular types of street pieces from the twins.....so simple, but they work so well. Os Gemeos is really on a roll lately. They are shining on both the street and the institution level.

We went to Fame Festival last year and can't recommend it enough. We had a fantastic time in Grottaglie, the town is beautiful, the weather was really good, the work in the streets /the monastery and the gallery was superb and Angelo is a legend. Plus the food was some of the best we have ever have. Our photos from last year are up on our Flickr. www.flickr.com/photos/hookedblog/sets/72157622472968042/We have booked flights and are heading back again this year. There are currently flights with Ryanair from London to Brindisi Airport (35 mins to Grottaglie) for £61 return!! Ye don't want to miss the festival.

going to make this year's! who else? Lucky you! I actually will be on a Mediterranean cruise that will stop in Bari and Venice but it starts end of 9/26 so that's a little late I think for the show. I wonder how far Grottaglie is from those stops.

I've just booked my tickets although there is still a chance I will not be free that weekend..
Last year's was a truly fantastic experience though so really looking forward to visiting again, especially as the line-up looks at least as strong, maybe stronger (momo!) than last year ...

I'm going to try to go check out the work. But, I will be a week late as I get there the night of the Festival and my boat doesn't come back until a week later. My cruise starts in Bari which is like 60 miles from Grottaglie. Here is some of JR's stuff.

Bari is a nice little town.
I had a very decent pizza at a place overlooking the Marina last year..

Gonna be headed to Grottaglie for FAME Fest---so stoked!!
People that are going or have been before: any recommendations on places to stay? So far I've been able to find zero info on the town...
Looking forward to meeting whoever goes and adventuring around town!!
