 Luke Chueh
« Thread Started on Mar 4, 2008, 3:26pm »

Well, one of my favorite artists is Luke Chueh. I'm really looking forward to his solo show at Copro Nason in May. His prices have been steadily increasing the last several shows... I don't know if the usual Copro price increase will hurt sales but if there is an increase I don't think the preview will sell out.

Here are some ideas he is working on:

Spooonful of Sugar
Popping Poppies
Possessed (Revisited)
Bait
Impaled (Large-Red)
Impaled (Large-Green)
Osmosis
Dive (Off the Wagon)
Octopusssy (Large)
Wrestling with Demons (Revisited)
Southpaw 2008
Shot in the Heart
Stitched Together
Vomito Negro (Another Night Without my Mistress)

I also speculate he will do a painting of the "hot-air bear balloon" that we saw a drawing of at the last G1988 show.

Female characters? How intriguing. The only one I can remember is I think it's called Reach. A big bunny. XD

I wonder what spoonful of sugar and octopussy look like. @___@

Well you would use a spoon to cook down heroin which in it's powdered form would resemble small rocks or sugar. I have seen his females in works like crush and maybe a few others. They look way more detailed than his animals. Or are we talking about female animals?

The female characters dont really move me the way his other subjects do, even though I am female. This will be a dark show for sure, but one that is relevant and no doubt will be quite moving. I cannot wait for another Possessed and Southpaw. It would be fantastic if he released at least 5 prints for this show. See everyone there. :)

yes, i can't wait for this show. it will probably be the last significant purchase for me for a while. hopefully i will be able to shut it down for the rest of '08 as planned. really interested in possibly getting the possessed piece since none of my lukes are bloody. i like the idea of having a central theme for the show (drugs).

you will be coming down for that show?....very cool.

Wow, that's a pretty awesome frame job for the mini prints. How did you decide on the white background? Guess you might reframe them with the box huh? Congrats!

I just wanted to go all white...I thought it would let the prints themselves really stand out. I think they came out great. I'll probably just keep them the way they are. It would look great with the 1/500 envelope but then the whole frame would be huge and I'm just running out of room at the old pad.
