Several of us got sketches from Nate at Baby Tattooville. I was pretty impressed with the detail he put into these and also like what he's working on for his upcoming solo show. Here's an example.

wow.
i love the textures he paints into clothes and how he captures the light.
the backgrounds of his pieces are stunningly beautiful.

i'm really looking forward to seeing the output for his show. he says that the content will deal with the representation of emotions, and i can see how this fits the theme.

sleepboy, you mentioned his sketching - have you checked out his videos on sketch theatre? amazing.

LOL.

"With this show, I'm trying to convey the mixed emotions that people have from day to day. Some may be depressing, some happy, some scared, and some brave. I feel like for myself, my mood is constantly changing, and I act accordingly. I put on a different mask to let people know where I stand at that moment. Each painting in this series has a mask of sorts that represents a different emotion. Some of the paintings are a little more literal and some are more fun. "

Thank you all so much for the support. I really appreciate it.

I have my first solo show ever in a couple weeks and I've been working really hard to create some good paintings. I find that the more I paint, the more personal emotion and meaning goes into each piece. I hope you guys will enjoy the new stuff. :)

just saw the preview for the up coming show at Cerasoli Lebasse, looks really good. I think my favorite one is the kid with the tv on his head.

Thanks so much for all the kind words.

I'm glad you like that painting, Sven. I had a lot of fun with it. It's titled "Fragile" and I tried to tell that story in a few different ways. I played around with washes to create movement in the piece..to feel as if something is trying to blow the girl over or push her around. The hair is used as the mask in this instance, creating thin shadows across her face that almost resemble cracks in her skin. And the butterflies are meant to continue the feeling of movement as well as be a symbol for something light and delicate.

Thanks again, and please let me know if anyone has any questions. :)
