i'm sure i won't be the only one to say it, but are you aware of uk artist slinkachu? their work looks very similar in terms of style if not context.

Yes, I'm aware of Slinkachu. Minimiam has been exhibiting these miniatures since 2002, so I'm sure Slinkachu has heard of them, too... he started his miniature project in 2006.
