Curated by Gary Baseman. Artists supposed to paint something representing their true self, not necessarily a self portrait. Small preview here. Here's Luke Chueh's piece.

Most of the work from these artists looks as one would expect. I understand they are not self portraits, but asking the artists "to look deep inside themselves and create an image that they feel represents their own passion or obsession."
Wouldn't that just be what they paint all the time anyway? I mean as far as I know don't most artists create art because of a passion or obsession, and the imagery that is seen in their work is part of that feeling? Sounds kind of like the theme is really just open to send what you normally paint. Luke Chueh is really one of the few that made something that fits this loose theme.

The Ryden is very nice in person and it was 6k. Note that it was 3.5 x 3.5 inches...

the Ryden seems like it was a study or he did it pretty quickly because of the detail. Either way that is a pretty good price for an artist whose similar works go for $10k for the smallest piece and its great that someone got to get a Ryden at a major gallery show and know its authentic with the abundance of forgeries out there of his work.
