Whoever made that "estimated' value for the Keyes is batshit crazy.... that thing will at least make 6.5k...

Anyone got their eye on anything then? I like the look of the Shawn Barber myself.

the value on the horkey is insanely low too. even the regular version of the print was more than $350 and it was an edition of 120 i believe. this variant is out of 10.
i'll put in a bid on it but as I already have the regular and japanese variant version I don't really need that one too.

I agree. The Keyes is way undervalued. IMO it will reach over $7k. A piece by Keyes that size is hard to come by unless you're on a waiting list.

It's like a candy store with too many treats to pick from. Some really low starting prices.

It's like a candy store with too many treats to pick from. Some really low starting prices. I'm not too familiar with auction type sales. Am I wrong in assuming that the more desirable pieces(fairey, keyes, horkey etc) will go well over their estimated value?

Yes, often in auctions the estimate is set lower than what it actually will sell for.

Anyone got their eye on anything then? I like the look of the Shawn Barber myself. If no one else bids on that Field Suite Matthew Barney portfolio I'll take it for the minimum price Liz McGrath told me at Baby Tattooville she was donating an all black sculpture... so that should eventually pop up and I'll bid on that. But man... the Keyes, Horkey, Fosik, Boogie, Milne, Simkins, Saeleeh Oh, Donwood, and Mudwig........ I want them all

Yes, often in auctions the estimate is set lower than what it actually will sell for. sure enough this tactic is employed in auction houses for the reason of appearing to sell over the estimated (low) value. what we have here is an artificially low estimate to make the piece appealing to a greater number of bidders..... i can get a keyes for 5k? wow i'll bid! but when you get shut out over 5k you feel that you already own it and its your piece.... you cant let someone else get it for just 1k more..... bid bid bid! current gallery price for this size is 6.5k... why else would they place the estimate lower than current retail, and as some would say significantly lower than 'market' value?

Although having a low estimate does help out when it comes to taxes as you can write off anything you pay above the estimate as a deduction for charity. At least that's what I think with my limited tax skillz...

Basically, it's the same as eBay... one that sets a low starting bid is more likely to sell than than a highballer... Just like sven had said...

At this point, he'll probably fetch a cool $8-10K for it. I'll bet that an impatient "wait list" client will just go for it.

Just a reminder that most of the auctions are ending within 24 hours.

Something tells me that the prices on the more desirable pieces that are still priced fairly low will sky rocket in the last hour or so of bidding. If not, someone is gonna get one hell of a deal on a beautiful Robert Williams piece.

I totally agree that all the prices are going to change in the last few hours of bidding, but there is a reserve on the Williams piece (I think it's the only one with a reserve) so I don't think anyone is going to be walking away with a real steal.

^I have a feeling that there might be a last-minute bidder that will at least bid the reserve price set...

Interesting... apparently CharityBuzz practices a "popcorn" bidding practice, any bids placed within the last ten minutes of an auction extends the auction for an additional ten minutes, until there are no more bids. Great for the charity but really whittling away my nerves here!
Anyone score/trying to score anything?

So doesn't it show the final sale prices? or do we have to wait for those?

I picked up the Mike Davis drawing.
I was blown away by the shipping cost. I live in SoCal and the piece is in SoCal yet they are trying to charge me $150 for shipping.
Wondering is anyone else is being ripped off as well.
