Hi ya'll!
I know a couple of you out there are Bay Area located, if you don't know what your plans are for this weekend, the East Bay Express' Best of the East Bay Party is going down this Friday, August 6th from 5PM-11PM at Jack London Square in Oakland. Last year the party got shut down after attendance hit 18,000 people, so we're definitely looking to get a fair amount of foot traffic for this one. The event will feature three stages of live music, hundreds of food and boutique vendors, and, ahem, an indoor gallery showcasing some of my favorite East Bay (and beyond) artists, as well as an outdoor live graffiti showcase. Did I mention that it's completely free to the public?! The gallery space is located at 54 Washington St., directly across from the main stage. Included in the indoors show are such notables as: Scott Hove, Peter Gronquist, Skinner, Brett Amory, Monica Canilao, Eddie Colla, Aaron Nagel, Mike Shine and Emory Douglas. Outdoors will be Chor Boogie, Apex and Dabs / Myla.
We'll be hosting an artist's reception at 4PM on Friday, an hour before the event opens, allowing the artists and interested press, gallerists and collectors to check out the work before the sun goes down and the crowds show up. Complimentary beverages will be served, and obviously, I'd be honored if there was an Artchival presence!
