i've liked banksy's work for the longest time. probably about 6 years ago when i found his stuff.
i used to look at his prints and think, '£50 for a print...nah, i like it, but for the context of which it first appeared (on the street) but never for my walls', so i never bought any.
of course my thoughts now are more in line of 'if i could kick myself in the balls, i would'. ;)

Look at the geniuses that decided to paint this over. They could have sold it for 2-3 hundred grand.

My GF was just in London and went to this. She said she took a bunch of pictures, maybe I can grab them and post when she gets back.

I've personally always believed it to be the guy pictured in the first picture of that story ever since reading that "expose" by the photographer on his website (which has now been taken down I believe)

The story just seemed very believable and I never heard or saw anyone that disputed it at all.

The funniest part.

'I bought the house that he used to live in,' she told us. 'He had rented out a room but I think there had been problems with the tenants and the landlord had to sort of repossess it or whatever, so he was just selling it.

'When I moved in, the place had been covered in graffiti and stuff like that. I threw things in the bin.

'At that point Banksy was just someone putting up stuff around Bristol. He was just another artist who had graffitied around Bristol. It keeps me awake at night sometimes thinking about it.'

Yah, it does sound very well researched. Probably true. Everything fits.

Interesting stuff. The timing of this article just lends so much more credence to the theory that Banksy is going to make one last big splash and then bow-out. The hype-machine is definitely in overdrive. MBW movie and show as part of his finale? What a hell of a statement that would be.
