I'm completely torn about him. I mean, I like most of his images which is what's important right? But then at the same time I just don't feel like this type of stuff is really worth spending the $ he's commanding at the moment.
That being said, Graf Geisha (the first pic posted above) is one of my favorite prints so far this year and I'd love to have one.

As I am in Asia and I travel to Japan often for business, I am always exposed to the anime/manga style of artwork. Hush's artworks might be appealing to the westerners who are not overly exposed to the kawaii-styled graphics but I read manga and watch anime so to me, Hush's work is nothing special.
Maybe if he integrates political or witty messages into his artwork, it might be different.
Just my opinion.

I hear what you’re saying and I have to agree with you on the prices. I was really disappointed when I didn’t manage to pick up one of the Geisha prints at £250 from the show. I saw one up on ebay today with a “buy it now” at £800, which is just crazy money! I really like most of his images too and I just wish the hype/prices would calm down to match whats on offer.
Having said that, it is always a pleasure to see his work on the streets of E1 as it makes a nice change from all the boring banksy imitators

For me Hush’s work stands out because I am a big anime/manga fan and I find that his is some of the only street art I've come across (in London) that ticks those boxes, so I guess the viewpoint may be different for westerners…
I have to say that I don't necessarily believe that good visuals need to backed by political/witty messages, as long as someone is getting pleasure from the pictures

i'm also torn... his work is just mediocre anime, but at the same time i like the use of color & the geisha is very cool. when i looked at pics from the cans festival, it did stand out. but also can't help comparing it to Faile's "Get Acquainted" image
