I planned to get a canvas packed this Saturday through an art shipping company but the ones I've found are only open weekdays and I'm unable to take time off work for that. I am confident I can pack it myself if I can find a sturdy box for it. Does anyone know where I can find quality boxes for shipping in the dimensions I need? What about services like the FedEx / UPS store? I'm not sure how competent they would be for packing artwork.

Is it a big canvas?
All you need are actually sheets of thick cardboard. You can assemble a good box out of that easily. Inside, put the canvas in a layer of glassine and two layers of bubble wrap, then sandwich it between two sheets of thin playwood. Nothing can harm that.

I've shipped small/med sized framed pieces with glass and I found the best way in terms of covering your butt is to go to a UPS Store and have them package it with you. You can even pre-pack it in a nice little bubble-wrap shell and have them finish it off...that's what I do. It will cost a bit more but they are 100% on the hook for any damages that occur since they packed it. I've just heard too many horror stories of UPS denying insurance claims by blaming the customer for insufficient packaging (regardless of well it was packed.)

I use UPS for the same reasons as well...

I was gonna buy some packing supplies at an art/craft store, foam, etc, but this sounds easier. They're open saturday too! Thanks.
Thanks,

I have recently switched to Smart Deliveries and I have to say their packaging is amazing. They take care of the product or parcel like their own and they even have an option of same day delivery Dallas. It has been more than three months that I am sending and receiving packages to my friends.

I think it depends on the value of the art booth financial and emotional.
All the artwork I bought was professional packed by the artist or the delivery company.
To avoid any problems that can be rolled to me
