"Beyond Reality Lies Reason" Featuring the Art of Linda Herzog
May 8 - June 7, 2014
Reception: Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 6-10pm
We are excited to present an extraordinary solo exhibition featuring the artwork of Linda Herzog. This exhibit titled "Beyond Reality Lies Reason" will highlight Herzog's most current paintings, which are meticulously painted with a single hair brush. Herzog will be in attendance at the Opening Reception to meet, greet and answer questions. The Opening Reception with Live Music will be held on Saturday, May 10 from 6-10pm. Local artists within the ArtHatch building will have their studios open to the public as well. Complimentary Stone beer and wine will be served to guests.
Linda Ridd Herzog's interest in wildlife was sparked by her upbringing in the natural splendor of Salt Lake City, Utah. Though she has taken classes and workshops, Ridd Herzog is a largely self-taught painter. The result of her experimentation is a unique style which combines an intense realism in the presentation of her wildlife with the fantastical qualities of Surrealism.
Her move to San Diego in 1986 inspired a focus on marine life. She rendered her whales, fish and their aquatic environs with a scientific attention to detail. In 1998 Ridd Herzog followed an instinct to fill a void she found in the art world, and began to combine her realistic marine life with the fantasy scapes of her own dreams. She often finds herself waking from particularly vivid dreams to in the middle of the night to immediately begin sketching her visions.
Ridd Herzog's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Tokyo, Maui, New York and Chicago. She is prominently featured regionally in La Jolla, Carlsbad, Laguna Beach and Palm Desert. Her work can be found in corporate collections including Toyota and Swatch. She currently resides in Vista, California.
The exhibition will run from May 8 - June 7, 2014.
