Josh's response so far: "I don't recall drawing this little guy but I did come across an email correspondence dated in July 2012 with an international customer who received a damaged print. I sent him a sketch along with his replacement as an added apology. Unfortunately I did not photograph the sketch, I usually do document everything and wish I had. I did create three small drawings for the cotton candy machine tiny trifecta show in 2012, these were between a sketch and a finished drawing. My primary sketches are quite simple and loose. It is possible that I sent a rough sketch of scorch to this customer and created a more realized version for the show. If it was a sketch it would be on sketchbook paper, lighter and thinner than Bristol board. I contacted the customer to see what the sketch was and hopefully they will get back to me and we will have an answer"

Auction's been pulled but I think what he was selling was probably a crude copy of Josh's work based on this image. Looking at the sellers past auctions it all starts to look ridiculous. This kid had original drawings by Thomas Hart Benton, Leroy Neiman, Basquiat, Barry Mcgee, Os Gemeos and Josh Keyes!!! Come on. I'd bet money that McGee is a fake but it's better than most fakes that I see. Barry's line work is as tight and smooth as any artist working today and that painting doesn't quite have it based on the pics. Seems like an unscrupulous art student if you ask me.
