"Barroco Mestizo" is the title of the first collective exhibition by four Latin American artists in Montana Gallery Barcelona. Inti (Chile), Jaz (Argentina), Saner (Mexico) and Decertor (Peru) presents next July 4th a collection of artworks created around a main concept, based on a letter from the XVI century. This letter, dated December 1583, mentions an old tradition whereby mestizos and indigenous artists were recruited to represent some European classical prints, totally prohibiting any kind of creativity. The result, of course, used to escape from the original image, soaking up the personality of their creators. Today, back to the XXI century, the four artists behind "Barroco Mestizo" resume that tradition letting their styles and influences to recreate he original images, making new artworks that will be exhibited on the walls of Montana Gallery. Opening Thursday July 3, 2014 from 20pm. Exhibition from 04 July to 30 August 2014.
