Apparently there will be a reality show to find new art talent. LOL, it was only a matter of time.

That's interesting, I know a gallery owner that is trying to get a reality television show( i think it was for something like Bravo but not sure). I haven't talked to him in several months though. Sleepboy, do you know who is putting the show on?I am wondering if it is the same person.

I had a discussion with my girlfriend about an art reality show back when Top Chef and first came on the air. I argued that art is so subjective that there's no way it could be a competition-based show. It would be interesting to see how/if this show works...

I've been producing tv shows for a bit over 10 years now, from the X files to over a dozen Mtv shows and more. This idea has been shopped, chopped and rejected many times. The first i heard of an idea like this was around 2003. I personally would like such a show, but the viewing demographic for this would be very limited IMO. I remember speaking with a producer friend of mine about this idea years ago.....his response was, "yeh, but the viewers will literally be watching paint dry". I thought that was kind of funny . I'd be pleasantly surprised to see this go beyond a pilot and have an episodic run. The reason this may have a shot is because it has some heavy hitters in the art world behind it. Then again, in my years of pitching shows to networks, that played a key role, but not necessarily enough to sell the show.

It's Saatchi but it's kinda weird cuz it says he's shy so he's not going to say anything on the show, but you will see him. Don't know how that's supposed to work.

No it's another gallery owner , I am not suppose to really say anything, but I guess that it's a pretty common idea it seems. I was thinking that he was doing the pilot at the beginning of this year, but like I said I haven't really discussed it with him in months.

This isn't directly related to this post but I figured it somewhat fit in. I am trying to find out a little information on a painting that is hanging on the wall in the LA Ink studio as seen on the reality program LA Ink. The piece in question looks like a Michael Hussar piece and uses a lot of pink in it and has a very intricate black wood frame, the piece is a portrait of a clown like character. Does anyone know anything about this piece, if it in fact is a Michael Hussar piece and what the title of it is? Thus far I haven’t been able to locate any information on it on the web. I know I am being somewhat vague but it’s all I have to go on at the moment, thanks in advance for any help.

That particular piece was part of a group show at Corey Helford back in August 07.
The original gallery list price was $24,000.
I haven't seen a piece from him since then. He was supposed to show at Last Rites awhile back but the show was canceled.

I watched the preview with OnDemand. TOTAL AND COMPLETE SHIT. If this show doesnt piss you off I'd be surprised. This show ads no value to the art world and it makes me want to bitch slap all of these trite, one dimensional, entitled, sleepers.

Just wanted it out there for discussions sake bad or good. Lols, apparently it's bad which is not surprising. But, some things are so bad, they end up being good for entertainment's sake?

I love some entertainment. Im sorry, I think this is disgusting, no value. You cant hate every character so much you want to hurt them and get anything good out of it. All them suck. No focus on art just a bunch of trite crap. Seriously Liz is from Miami and if I see her out I am going to throw paint on her and chase her out of Wynwood. I respect what her Dad and Brother have done for our art community but this bitch deserves to be tied to a tree for the rest of her natural life.

As a fellow member from the South Florida area and lover of art I will purchase the bucket of paint for you.

The show promotes the big lie of art. The art world is hard to get into. I find that people that think that way and promote that lie tend to be people of little actual indiviudal thought or substance. People that are afraid of the genuine article and do their best to keep it from entering their space. The gallerist is shameful, the girls are poor business people, overeducated and under visioned. They are women who are soaking up life while they are beautiful not realizing that eventually the flower wilts and you are left with the quality of the plant that held it.
Liz has done a few interviews and while her no nonsense attititude is rather refreshing she forgets that her status only matters to people who value it. She presents that any gallery would have to hire her because of her father and I am not sure that its anything to be proud of, even if its accurate.

Comments in this thread are spot on. This show is utter trash. Although it shouldn't be a surprise coming from the "Real Housewives" network. This is just another one of "those" shows with a different backdrop.
