Such a focused well executed show. Great for Barry. #legend.

That big red geometric is just next level. I want that table that accompanies it so badly.

Anyone seen both the Boston and the Berkeley shows? Just wondering how they compare in terms of the visitor experience.... I was lucky enough to see the Berkeley show and a lot of the pics from Boston seem to feature the same (or very very similar) work...

in seeing this, i'm reminded that i really like his earlier geometric works. with their larger, simpler, more "q-bert" like patterns. this one is especially nice, with the various heads that are painted within the pattern chaos. i agree, it'll be interesting to see the result of this auction, though i'm always underwhelmed with barry's auction sale prices. especially when i think about his standing and his history of museum shows. i'm sure a good showing at cheim & read will shift that.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell. These geometric patterns are nice but not that great unless if they got a bit more of his iconic heads and letters here and there. I honestly haven't seen his strong work at auctions many years. all I've seen is a bunch of small single pieces and a small piece doesnt work for investors. I would love to see a cluster of 8-10 pieces comes up on an auction one day.

I honestly haven't seen his strong work at auctions many years. all I've seen is a bunch of small single pieces and a small piece doesnt work for investors. I would love to see a cluster of 8-10 pieces comes up on an auction one day. interesting. it took me a number of exposures to the actual work before i got, and fell for, his geometrics. now i enjoy them all. i love his clusters mixing all the elements of his work. of the clusters that are predominately geometric, however, i think they are stronger when there are no other elements - it leaves the viewer no where to land from all the chaos generated by the competing/conflicting patterns and i think makes the overwhelming nature of the work more impactful. i think his evolution with this - into more complex patterns, morphed shapes, odd fitting panels, and hyper color saturation - pushes this further and so the recent works, like berkeley/ica walls, are my favorite at this point. i've also noticed that his pure geometrics seemed to sell well at his prism show. given the money chasing pure abstraction, i wouldn't be surprised if these end up being some of his most sought after works. that said, i too will not be surprised if this does not sell well - his auction results have been underwhelming, it seems like big money hasn't taken an interest in him. i am not sure what will be Barry's pivot point for high end collectors who drive impressive auction results at this level - Cheim & Reid solo later this year could be it, or it might take a big solo museum show in new york, it may be when there is a sufficient quorum of the influential collectors on board, it may have already happened. we shall see.

The zone looks great! I ordered 2 from Family LA back in February and they never sent them to me. They either don't respond to my emails and cannot provide any tracking. Anybody else had these issues?? I'd stay away from them. I'm very disappointed.

excited to see Barry's upcoming solo show at Cheim & Reid in NY. "This is the artist’s first solo show with the gallery. It will also be his first in New York in 8 years."
