Does anyone know anything about this guy? I'm kinda digging his work. Here's his website.I'm tempted by some of his available work here. Especially this one. Some more stuff.

Alright, my first post. I'm obsessed with Michael Page too. We have a lot coming up with him, and I really just stare at that available work page too. Love the dude, first thing he'll be in is Cult in August.

Ahhh... that's where I know his work from. I was trying to remember when Sleep posted those pics. I was tempted to buy the flying carriage piece. And the Naoto piece from that show is great.

Saw that show (a block from my office) I think the best ones were the one you are interested in Sleepboy, and "Happiness in a Dark World". I currently have 2 small ones, and would love to get a larger one someday. His paintings have a very "Fine Art" look to them and a definite quality, however it seems he does not get much exposure outside of the Bay Area. The "dirty" ones are great too, it was interesting watching people's reactions to them at the opening, because they were basically the first 2 paintings you would see going in to the space.

Yeh Ive seen his work at Varnish Art quite a few times.
I remember thinking how cool it was that he painted in Oil and Acrylic, and that it was often hard to tell which medium he used on each painting. (Without looking at the cards of course)

I love his work. Here is a drawing I picked up cheap at Gallery AD's Holiday show a couple years back. Not the greatest pics, as it is really detailed in person. Titled "Eliza Day play for us" - graphite on paper - 16x20 Framed

Did a short interview with him here if anyone is interested. Here's an excerpt: AM: It appears that some of your most recent paintings are getting more abstract. A natural progression in your work or something more planned? MP: I am definitely trying to go more abstract with my art. I’ve come to realize that I do not need to be telling any more stories with my work. I just want to paint in the most natural way that I know how. Nothing with too much force, but always trying to move forward in what I do. For a while, I knew that I wanted to change what I was doing, but I really did not know how to approach the matter. Luckily, I have been painting with a good friend of mine (Sri Whipple) and he’s helped open my eyes to endless possibilities in creativity. I know that I will continue this route until it plops me into a new form of work. I’m really not trying to pin down what I do; I want to move around as freely as I can.

The new show was stunning to see in person. I felt it was approaching a Joe Sorren level of emotion conveyed... So, so powerful.

Michael Page is an artist I've followed for some time now. And I must admit that I much prefer his art from 2008-2009 more than his current pieces. I have to admire his broad range of skills, and his wildly colorful and emotive paintings that are so popular worldwide are amazing. But I long for the darker, more twisted pieces that were arguably less popular 5-6 years ago. Along these lines, I have wanted to add one of his older works to my collection for some time now, but they are hard to find, and works by other artists seemed to always have a higher priority on my wish list. But I just couldn't watch the painting owned by member untilshewokeme go another day in the for sale thread without taking action. Titled Wretched Meetings, I'm attaching the original photo from the 2009 show at Copronason Gallery, which is much clearer than that posted by untilshewokeme. I see so many things in this image. The background, which was highlighted in a blog written by Nathan Spoor (who curated the show), is reminiscent of the Hudson Valley School of painters and is wonderful. The image itself seems to suggest (at least to me) that the sins of man (note the hand on breast and bottles in the water) are not to be tolerated by nature wild. As usual, the use of light and dark is a strength, as is a simple, bold use of brush strokes. It has been commented that it is difficult to tell which of Michael's paintings are acrylic and which are oil - this one is oil on wood - which is a testament to his ability to make oil "pop" and bring out the stark contrast between colors, even in paintings that are in generl "dark" in both color and content. And the expression on the faces of the man and woman are priceless.
