I dont think that will be happening any time soon.. his prints are not selling as good as his originals (it is nearly impossible to transfer the uniqueness of his technique into a print), so I dont think him or his gallery are that keen on producing new ones.. at least that's what I understood the last time I talked about it with his gallerist.. however, I wouldn't mind seeing Hum being released as a print

I do think if they lowered the prices of his prints some that they'd sell quite a bit more. I feel like that's more of a hindrance to sales than capturing his technique. But I could be dead wrong. I certainly agree about Hum though, that one looks pretty special.

I really wanted to buy the print with the polar bear in the wave, but they wanted 100 Euro to ship it to Canada which sounds a little steep considering I'll get nailed for import duty as well.
I don't know why the cost of shipping it would be so high, but it's the reason I didn't purchase the print. (That was for the unframed version as well.)

I would love to see Hum as a print but I have to say that Sovereign Still is a really awesome piece too and if that was a print I would try to get in on that too

(That was for the unframed version as well.) well, if you were living on the other side of the pond (like myself), you wouldn't be too surprised with that.. I often get ridiculous quotes for shipping, especially from big name galleries/museums, that just dont wanna risk anything so they only use courier services (which are SUPER high, especially for big formats such as flat print)... I understand their way of seeing things, and even it's much more difficult/expensive for me, I usually find a way around it (thanks to numerous friendly people all over)... as for print pricing, once again - if Chris' prints were priced $300, they'd sell quick (I believe), and than flippers would sell them on eBay for $$$.. this way, they are cut out of the game (same things as Kaws releases for example).. plus, The Kiss is an incredible print, done on two different sheets of paper, backing one being one of the thickest I've ever seen on a print..

It feels like there has to be some middle ground somewhere, it seems like the artists that do regular prints are overall a lot more popular and talked about than artists that don't.
I love the pictures posted on the previous page and would snap buy any of them and send them straight to the framers if they came out anywhere in the $300ish range.
Quickly selling out a 100 print run at $300 seems to make a lot more sense than sitting on a $700 20 print run for a few years waiting for it to sell out. Plus I really do think it would build some more buzz for him. I know he's popular in these parts but on ExpressoBeans I've hardly seen him mentioned.
Regardless I just want to get something of his up on my wall, and there's zero chance I'll ever be able to afford and OG. I like his work a lot, it just feels my hands are tied when it comes to getting something of his to enjoy at home.

I got to check out the latest 2 paintings by Chris Berens today @ Jaski gallery, so I wanted to share these beauties: again, his works have to be closely examined to be fully appreciated.. from layering, atmosphere, composition, light, blur effect, to his meticulous detail work, his work is pretty much impossible to capture on a photo.. I was told these are a step towards what Chris will be working on for his upcoming solo show in Tokyo in Dec 2013 (hence the brighter colors, cherry blossoms, new animals, etc)..

Love the depth of field in that piece and the lady on the streetlight. Any chance there will be a print release from any of these pieces?

I'm really looking forward to the documentary, but according to the Facebook page, only a DVD will be made available. Hopefully a 1080p Blu-Ray version is pressed at some point. It would be a shame to shoot and edit everything in HD, only to downrez to SD for the official release. Everyone demand HD!
