Don't even have to go back that far. As recently as May 2007, a 4'x4' could have been had for $12k, 6'x4' for $17k.

I contacted the gallery to enquire what was available and practically had to have an interview just to get an answer - are you familiar with his work, do you own any, where are you based - in other words, can you afford one and the price is whatever we think we can get. It's everything that I hate about this hobby. We are on the verge of the greatest depression since the thirties and you get arrogance like this. I bought one piece form Elms Lester, managed to get 50% off the ridiculous price quoted, only to find I was still paying over the odds. I will never buy a piece of art from Elms again. What a great way to do business. There is so much great art on the secondary market which is only going one way with how tough things are that it's about time some of these guys got real.

Given Parla's past history, wouldn't you endorse the gallery's approach? Parla consistently went with half-ass 'galleries' instead of proper representation and the result was disgustingly run-up prices, commissioned pieces being basically drop-shipped to auctions or other galleries, pieces being put up on ebay or listed en masse on forums and lameness like a diptych being split and 1/2 being put up at Christies. Respect to Ohwow and Wolkowitz if they can pull it all back together over the next few years.

Really strong paintings! Loving the colors and textures. Cant wait to see them in person.
Would love to get one. Are there any out there for sale privately?

which is telling of the recovery achieved in his market since the Elms fallout, Curious to what the fall out you are referring to is. I was completely unaware. I would love some insight.
