Just became familiar with Mel Kadel recently.
Haven't read through the current issue of Juxtapoz (It's the one w/ Ms. Vann & Audrey Kawasaki), but there's an interview with her.
I do know she's married to Travis Millard and has representation through Richard Heller gallery in L.A. and has shown at the Shooting Gallery.

i've been watching her work for a while now.
i really like her style, but i don't like the faces she paints enough to buy and own a piece. the remaining parts of her paintings, i absolutely love!

Hm... just realized that she uses ink pens. I thought it was paint.

Mel uses ink pens, but also it's the old paper, with coffee stains and unique marking that she uses that make her pieces really beautiful.
I've recently opened up an online art gallery / store called ivoteforart.com . I don't want to come accross as a spammer here, but thought you guys might be interested to know that I'm selling a couple of her prints here - The first two pics that you've listed sleepboy.
I've gotten to know Mel a little (over email) and she's lovely ... I'm so glad that she's doing so well - didn't know that she's in the latest Juxtapoz though. That's great.
