honestly, these are neat but i don't think these drawings hold a candle to his finished pieces. at ~$2500 for book and drawing you could start a nice savings toward an OG. that said, the book does look very nice though. if money isnt an issue i'm sure you'll love it. i think some of them look pretty detailed and more "complete" than others. considering the book is about $400 after shipping, you're looking at around $2k for the drawing if you wanted the book anyways. i think that seems like a fair price for a ~6 x ~8 given that his 3" x 5" painting was $3500 if i remember correctly at the sloan show in new york. i remember considering that piece then but it was leaps and bounds out of my price range, where i probably would have been able to splurge at $2k just to own a little something from him. i just wish the book was cheaper....

I had the same feeling about his print (about not being "three dimensional"), but these drawings are also not, so I ended up going for a print (but still have my eye on one of them) dont know if Mapping Infinity is sold, but Im sure its a great buy for whoever has the money.. feel free to ask Robbert about it, Im sure he'll share the info.. congrats Origo, they are ALL beauties!

I think the drawings, much like the verso pieces on his paintings, are a fascinating window into his unique process.

I think the drawings, much like the verso pieces on his paintings, are a fascinating window into his unique process. totally true... my last post might have sound a bit negative towards drawings, but I was referring to the fact that the drawings are not multilayered, so they dont have the feeling of three dimension like his work usually has.. they do show the amazing eye for detail (and skills to execute it), amazing use of ink blurring for depth illusion, and what I especially like, using stains/smudges/shapes as a base for making new characters, creatures... plus, the book is definitely what you'd wanna see - packed with tons of hi res, big size close up photos of his works.. will definitely keep you busy (and buzzing), for some period of time.. oh, and the interview done by certain Amanda definitely looks like a good read too

Outstanding exhibition! Chris was really approachable, happy to sign books and talk about the work etc. The sketches were beautiful and really showed his talent as an artist. Just returned and was blown away! I'll post a few photos later today of the show. Check my collection to see my latest acquisition which, when I saw it in person at the gallery, I couldn't leave without! Also picked up the book which is spectacular and worth every penny.

Actually, the more I see of his work the more I want at least the book, as it looks stunning. I wish I could afford an original.

HUGE main piece which took 3 and a half months to complete... I was told that he was working on it for 17 months!?.. along with working on other things in the meantime.. I'd say 3 months would be QUICK for this kind of image... oh, and thanks for the photos!..

Strange, I'm pretty sure Chris said it took him 3 and a half months. He said he usually has a number of works on the go at any one time but he decided to focus on this one working 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. Maybe I misunderstood...either way it's an amazing work!

Chris said it took him 3 and a half months. well, if you talked directly with Chris about it, than that's definitely more valid info.. I still think 3 and half months is nothing for the amount of work thats put into this exceptional image...
