when i say out of reach, i start to compare these artists to my 'faves' or 'wish lists' and whether or not i can justify routing cash to them rather than those who i'm planning or hoping for a piece from. i like him but don't love him - as his prices go up (he had some CHEAP pieces at DVA last year that i sat around thinking about way too damned long ) - i wonder if i'll ever pull the trigger.

i like his stuff a lot, but don't own anything. kinda reminds me of somewhere between jeff soto and blaine fontana in terms of style.

i think i read somewhere that nathan ota was one of blaine fontana's teachers back in art school. that could explain the style influences.. or i could be totally off

I dig his stuff- I have the Candy Colored Clown print from the 1988 Cult Movie show. i think i read somewhere that nathan ota was one of blaine fontana's teachers back in art school. that could explain the style influences.. or i could be totally off I know he is/was an instructor at Otis, and I believe Blaine and Jeff both went there, so it's very possible

Nathan Ota is definitely one of my favorite artists. He gets such clean, rich colors and the paint looks so smooth on the panels. And the way he plays with lighting is insane. They look amazing in person. He does teach at Otis still. Fontana went to Otis, but I'm not sure if he had Nathan as an instructor. Soto went to Art Center. .
