Hi there. I was kindly referred to this forum by a member over at the Banksy forums. I hope this first post doesn't seem like I am impeding.
I wanted to share with you the work of my uncle: Craig Welch. There's something different about his work. Ever since I was a child, I would be disturbed by it, but couldn't look away. It grabbed me; particularly his Houdini portrait I would nervously pass by as I walked up the stairs.
He's never been open about his art. Some find it beautiful, some find it dark. A select few of you may recall his piece How Wings Are Attached to the Backs of Angels appearing before the screening of David Cronenberg's 1996 film: Crash. This piece won him awards in the Dresden Film Festival, Leipzig DOK Festival, Sitges - Catalonian International Film Festival, and Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films. He was also nominated for Cannes, Genie, and shortlisted for the Academy Awards. He worked as an animator for the National Film Board, joyfully rejected Disney, and currently resides in Montreal where he continues his craft.
He doesn't care much for attention. However, I believe he deserves it. I have attached the aforementioned short film as well as a select few of his oil paintings.
For those interested in OGs, I have posted what is available in a for sale thread here: artchival.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=wanttobuy&thread=6525
Craig is also available for select commissions.
Enough rambling - enjoy.
