Covers aside, what's the content like? Good interviews? I've never seen one but I'm keen to get my hands on one.

Laminatemag - please can you reply to some of the people who are emailing you regarding the Geddes covers. I know of 2 people who are trying to find out from you if they have purchased signed versions.....your reply that the person would have to wait to find out when it arrives is a little coarse! I'm guessing lots of PayPal disputes will be opened shortly as they are heading towards the 44th day without any clarification.

Covers aside, what's the content like? Good interviews? I've never seen one but I'm keen to get my hands on one. Content is on the thin side with not much interview material, if any in some cases. It's more like a portfolio showcasing graphic imagery but the quality of the images is very good indeed.

I ended up ordering the Beren's cover last week. Shipped them my paypal not so much as an email from them. I guess it's up to blind faith now.
And yes I realize I said I wouldn't order from them at the start of the thread, but I bought a second hand copy of the last issue and was very impressed with the print quality and size. I just hope this one goes through.

Seems like they are fast building themselves a bad reputation around these parts at least, which is a shame because as myself and others have said it really is an exceptionally well put together showcase. Perhaps they are short staffed?

I've said it before...their product is good but their business model is terrible. They pre-sell everything months in advance, I assume they do this to maximize $$$ and minimize over-printing but you can't expect customers to wait 2...3...4 months for something they've already paid for. They begin selling the newer issues before the previous issues have shipped which makes it super annoying and confusing to customers.
Just set an edition number, print them, get them signed and release them when they are in-hand. If you over run something throw it up in your store and they will sell eventually. It's really quite simple.

Dear Six Stringer, - We dont pre-sell for the $$ as most of the prints/edition are already predetermined! - Why we release issues months in advance - each issue comes with Pre-selected items which are made to readers selections - GelaSkins are limited to a total edition of 150 copies - so it better allow readers choose their preferred Artist iPhone or iPad GelaSkin before they go to print. - Giving away prints - it cost alot of money and time releasing Prints and shipping them to and from the Artist by courier to get proofed, signed etc - editions are already pre-determined - That is why on this issue we are encouraging readers to pre-order some of the Prints mainly the RONE and MEGGS prints as they are based in Australia - we will be shipping the prints separately from the publication - to cut the lead times - Regards LAMINATE I've said it before...their product is good but their business model is terrible. As a business owner who deals with large volume of transactions I find your response to be exceptionally short sighted. 1. Start with an apology, your clients are dissatisfied, acknowledge their disappointment. 2. You have supply chain issues that are inherent with the business rules imposed by your deliverables, take a page out of 1xRun's book and set proper expectations and your buyers will be less upset. 3. Your site sucks, it doesnt explain the unique situation of buying your high quality product (people seem to report that the quality is great) so focus on better communication. I have considered buying from you but then reconsidered because a. peoples poor reviews b. your poor communication.
You can give me the same type of defensive retort but I do 300,000,000 in revenue online and know a thing or two about internet business models and consumer behavior.

Dear Sin, We do state on the store site that the items will only ship months after if there are any delays we keep customers updated! - We know that sometimes the notices/emails/ FB post/ Newsletter etc dont reach everyone but we try and keep everyone updated - We will address this issue and try and keep everyone updated! - We post updates on our FB page first. We try to answer every email! We do apologies to our readers for delays/changes etc! - We are not a traditional publication/business selling prints etc - we provide a closer interaction with Art/Artist facilitating our readers the opportunity to own Art by their Favorite or discover new artist - that wouldn't be normally available, which gives a better appreciation of the Artist work - and sometime it takes longer to fulfill but we always do! - Please note Artist also have to take the time to Proof and Sign the Art, Prints etc - which doesnt happen as quickly sometimes, they are usually busy - but we do try to keep readers updated e.g Doze Green print - he was just able to sign the prints - as he was busy in Chicago - Mile of Murals - and will begin to ship shortly - as soon as they arrive with us in the UK. - We recommend to follow us on Facbook for Updates www.facebook.com/pages/LAMINATE-media/192799071287?ref=tn_tnmnIf you have anymore question please do not hesitate to ask. The Jeremy Geddes covers have started shipping! As we stated that the SIGNED edition will go to the first 50 readers - As we advertised there were a few copies left on the 28th August - some readers then went on to order 5,6 and 7 copies - we understand that some readers are buying for family and friends but there were only a few left - Readers who ordered multiple issues and only wanted the Signed cover have been contacted.

I received my Geddes signed cover the other day. The "cover" isn't attached to the magazine at all, so it's more of a signed poster on glossy thick stock, which is better. More suitable for framing if you want. Overall the quality of the mag is good. The large size makes the art look great. It's still a pricey endeavor at about $50 shipped to the US.
I did have issues getting a response about my copy though. On two occasions I asked if I had made it in-time for the signed edition since my timing was questionable. Didn't get a response the first time. The second time I asked if my copy had shipped and if I had received a signed cover. I did get a response only to say they would look into it. Didn't hear back, but then a few days later the mag arrived, and it was signed thankfully.

I just hope this one goes through. Just wanted to post an update on this. I never did receive my magazine. I waited until just before paypal claim window closed and emailed them asking about the status of it, they emailed me back pretty quickly saying I should have received it and they would look into it ASAP. That was the first and last communication I ever had with them. I waited another week and filed the paypal claim which got approved. Since the claim has been completed the magazine still hasn't shown up so I highly doubt it was ever sent. If you order from these guys it's buyer beware, obviously some people are getting their magazines, but others aren't. If you order make sure you pay attention to the dates and don't let your paypal claim window close.
