i always liked his work until i recently went to a solo exhibit he had in chelsea, found out that he paints on top of photos he took, kinda bummed me out a bit....
although i do like his street work like pictured above, the oils (which are usually appropriately referred to as oil on mixed media on canvas) just don't do it for me anymore (technically speaking)

I think it's a personal preference. I don't like the idea because I have no way of knowing how much "painting" was done, although art is art so if you collect photography, I suppose this would just be a hybrid. I have the same mixed feeling about Ian Francis' work although not sure about the details of the complete process...
