That's the only time I've seen this image, too! So cool...

This is the strangest thing I've seen so far today. (Although it is only 7.30am) I want one, but god knows where I'd hang it!

Ultimately pissed. Just be glad you do not hear me cursing and swearing now. 3 weeks waiting, no sign of the piece and the post office unable to track it. I am still bummed how a gallery can send an original piece unregistered, and with snail mail (and on top of that ask 130$ for that)?? The shameless disrespect of the hard work of an artist makes me more angry than possibly losing money (although I am not exactly rich and work hard for my money too).

Wow, are they going to refund you? Unregistered means they didn't purchase any tracking or insurance?

Sounds like a bad business decision on their part too-who wants that kind of publicity and/or claims on purchases never received. Sorry to hear about your situation-I will be hoping your package turns up.

Thank you guys. I am still waiting for a decent reply from them, but my state of information is that no tracking or insurance was purchased. Around christmas my boyfriend had purchased some T-shirts on the internet which took 6 weeks to arrive from the US to Austria, so I am still keeping my fingers crossed that my piece is getting delayed somewhere.

I always worry about these kind of things happening, so much that I email or call the gallery a few days before I expect them to ship and ask for details (shipper, tracking, packing). Finger crossed for you!

Definitely art related in some way. Stunning from a technology aspect and blending reality.

I was secretly hoping that today's eight Raymond Pettibon's at David Rago Fine Art would stay within their estimates of $3,000 to $5,000 and I might be able to grab a bargain. In the event hardly any of them sold for less than $30,000. Ah well.

I am thinking some galleries are great to work with I physically just realized I had not sent payment regarding a piece I purchased ( three days after invoice ) and have not heard a peep from them ( I also dont think they are open today ) but a previous gallery that I had the same slip up with, called me countless times and left numerous voicemails for me regarding the work, and some of them in a threatening tone all why I was out of the country with no cell. Ironic they never emailed me, and when I finally got back into town and got my messages it took them three days to email me the proper form for payment ( wrong invoice three times, and once no CC Auth. form just a blank form )

Had to pay 55 Euros import tax today and did a dance of joy ;D ;D ;D Thanks everyone for crossing fingers (and to Sven for his advice), my piece arrived 41 days after it was posted. It got stamped by customs only 2 days ago, so it must have been at least once around the globe. I am happy but I feel still uneasy about how this was handled. My first 2 mails to the gallery were not answered, and the gallery only reacted when I demanded a full refund and threatened to make this public. Then someone else at the gallery took over the communication, suddenly mails were accommodating and friendly, I received an immediate refund of the entire shipping (which I had been overcharged for 100$ by the way) and was assured that this was a single instance that they sincerely apologize for and that I would receive a full refund when the piece did not show up within the following week. I hope this works out for you, that's a long time too wait. I always worry about these kind of things happening, so much that I email or call the gallery a few days before I expect them to ship and ask for details (shipper, tracking, packing). Finger crossed for you! That's something I will do for sure. Never thought it was necessary but it sadly is.

Tracy Emin - The Kiss www.whitecube.com/editions/the%20kiss/I didn't think this needed it's own thread but i'd just picked one up and thought it was a great price, and it was nice to see such an established artist producing very affordable work. I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, nor are the royals, and that it's a huge edition but i'm very pleased to have picked one up.

Can anyone recommend a good book about how to buy art?

Collecting Contemporary by Adam Lindermann. It's a great book.
Seven Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton if you want a good insight into how big time collectors operate. Again, a great book.
The $12 Million Dollar Stuffed Shark by Don Thompson if you're interested in the economics of collecting.

Never ever make an excel sheet with all art purchases of the past just because you are bored and have the sudden urge of doing some book-keeping (which is an urge that should be ignored anyways). I have only done 2010 & 2011 so far and realized I could have been out of debt already a while ago or maybe have purchased one really huge/expensive piece instead of buying a print here, a book there, smaller originals and the obligatory Ryden stuff throughout the year. And I have not even added the customs fees yet! Still, looking at the list I don't regret any purchase. Also I already skipped a few prints this year, so I am really proud of myself. (Just ignore the fact that I wished for a Lola print in another thread.)

I have done that very same thing myself. I thought I was the only one masochistic enough to take on such an endeavor. As long as you don't regret anything... smile!

Saw Biutiful for the first time last night and, aside from the unflinching intensity of the film really weighing on me, thought it was cool to see a classic Blu piece in Barcelona get some screen time. Inarritu knows what's up.
