I hope I can purchase pieces from Martin Wittfooth, AJ Fosik, Kris Lewis and hopefully a piece from Adam Miller. We´ll see if the budget can carry it.

Well, had a Martin Wittfooth OG high on the list, and that just happened. From here on out ... sell, sell, sell so I can have my first commission. The artist seems willing to take on something very unusual, and for me it will be very personal.

I need to sell some pieces that aren't up on the walls. I'd like to get an OG from Ruas, Chloe Early, maybe Esao too, and track down more James Jean.

well in the last year and a half, I've been glad to purchase a dan may and craola piece. also commissioned a michael page and esao andrews. this year finish paying those off and save for a house. i would love to attend the martin wittfooth show but considering i had just been laid off and just currently got a new job after being out of work for a little over a month i doubt that will happen. but i'm definitely planning on going to NYC to the jonathan levine gallery for esao andrews show.
i do hope jeff soto gets time to do a commission for me. and i hope to save for a martin wittfooth next year.

Well, had a Martin Wittfooth OG high on the list, and that just happened. From here on out ... sell, sell, sell so I can have my first commission. The artist seems willing to take on something very unusual, and for me it will be very personal. This really needs an update. I've been thinking about my art collection quite a bit of late, and trying to decide where to go from here. What I've decided: 1. Try as hard as I can to avoid focusing on just one or two artists. There is so much art to like, and so many good artists that it makes sense for me to have a variety of pieces in my collection. The goal is to have one extraordinary original by each artist that I like, and to have an eclectic collection. There will, of course, be a few exceptions. Shawn Huckins is a recent favorite, and instead of one large glorious piece (like Farm Animals currently on exhibit at Littletopia in LA), I opted for three smaller paintings. For a variety of reasons, I hope to add a commission by him and at least one other original to my collection in the near future. Judith Supine is another example of an exception. His pieces are often so small that having four of his originals doesn't seem overwhelming. Nonetheless, I tend to become obsessed with a handful of artists (Brian Despain, Jerome Mesnager, Jason Hernandez, and Herakut all come to mind). 2. Following up on number one above, spend as much or more time finding, researching, and enjoying new artists as I do artists that I already know or are already established. The art forums can sometimes help in this regard, but I've found that this is something that galleries and other collectors can help with as well. In fact, spending hours on the forums like Artchival can sometimes put blinders on me. I am not immune to the opinions of others, as much as I might like to claim otherwise. 3. Slow my purchases down quite a bit. Be more willing to wait for that one special piece, rather than being afraid that if I don't jump in and buy now, I'll miss out. Frankly, this came very close to happening with my desire to add pieces by both Martin Wittfooth and Brett Amory to my collection. Thank God I waited for the right painting by each. I think I also need to recognize that my funds and wall space are not unlimited. With over 80 original works and hundreds of prints, I think it is clear that my collection needs to better organized and purchases need to be more thoughtful. Although I want an eclectic collection, there have to be loose boundaries and limits, particularly if I want to continue collecting for the next few decades. I might add that I have had a very difficult time selling original pieces, simply because I am so attached to them. This really needs to change, and change quickly. 4. So, what does 2014 hold? As stated, the Martin Wittfooth I've sought will come my way after an exhibit at Roq la Rue in May. I've been in communication with Shawn Huckins about a commission. And I'm raising funds to try and find an Adam Neate original to buy. I want a piece in his older style. Those are the only specific plans. I want to keep my options open. I would consider it a great success if I purchased a piece by a relatively unknown artist and shared that work with this board.
