I used to love this board and it featured all my favorite artists but I'm just curious what happened? What forum did everyone go to?

right... still... I’d say we have some die hards who will keep checking in and appreciate any kind of update on the featured artists

Instagram seems to have replaced forums in terms of art discussion and community, which is a shame

This was far and away my favorite art forum. But what made it so special was the large number of contributors who shared on a daily basis. Unlike other forums, which seem very narrow and often predatory, Artchival was about the joy of art - all art in its many forms. Talk of buying and selling and art as an investment was generally sequestered in one thread. Yes, Instagram is valuable for helping to discover new artists, but it does not have a community feel. It is often information and photos without any soul.
I hate writing about Artchival in the past tense, but the number of contributors has fallen off a cliff, and I now only check in once a week. I don't know what the critical mass is for the number of active members to keep a forum vibrant, be whatever it is, we fell below that number some time ago. I'd love to see it come roaring back. Maybe when children get older ...

It was a great time when you could go on KidRobot, The Giant, Wallkandy, the UAA and here and see dozens of posts daily discussing all things art but it definitely looks like many from that generation have moved on to other things. Maybe the excitement of collecting starts to dull for a lot of people after a period of time

Maybe the excitement of collecting starts to dull for a lot of people after a period of time Yes, I agree that seems like sometimes it's a phase that you go through. For me, I think I am always interested in continuing to collect but for lack of funds and wallspace. Just have to be a lot more selective these days. I find that I'm moving towards sculptural editions as they don't take wall space haha. Which is ironic cuz collecting art toys is where I started...

Between 2005 and 2010 my collecting habits were over zealous to say the least but it was all so new and exhilarating plus the fear of missing out was at times deafening. Before Instagram it felt a real skill to unearth and source street art from hidden corners. To be fair I'm back collecting from that era and it's a lot less stressful now and actually the prices are not prohibitive.
