I would like to start this tread for artist and others who can get there hands on photos of art in progress. I think that it is really interesting to see a work at it's different stages. I will start this thread out with a new painting that is still on my easel. I am almost finished with it but still have a few days to go. I will add the final photo to this here in a few days. This piece in oil on canvas and it's titled" Bathing with Broken Butterflies". 30"x15" and is for one of my upcoming shows. Step 1: I sketch the image out with burnt umber and then start my under painting in black and white. Step 2: I work on finishing the under painting. The under painting is necessary because the technique I use is a glazing technique that was used by many of the old masters and the glazes have a translucent quality.I have also started on the glazing on the face. Step 3 : I have been working on the skin tones and the details on the water, face and skin. I added some of the butterflies but still have several days more of work to go. Here is the finished painting!!

I believe I may have posted this somewhere else on the boards. But as I can't recall specifically and it pertains nicely to this thread, I thought I'd throw it up. It's a small flickr slideshow of images of some progress shots I asked Jeff to take when he was painting Savior of Nature of me. Kinda neat to look back on. www.flickr.com/photos/wtusinski/sets/72157606898691811/show/
