I am not a Koons fan. Never have been. Long felt very negatively about many of his works, especially the paintings.
That being said, his current retro at the Whitney is an absolute triumph and a must see. Wow.

Would anyone on the forum have had the foresight to buy a Jeff Koons vaccuum cleaner back in 1980? Definitely not me. Even the porcelain sculptures which look great I would have passed on if one were offered for sale. Where would I put it? Who's to know which emerging artist we talk about today will be considered important in twenty/thirty years and have a Whitney retrospective. Any guesses?  |

@sleepboy I love talking Jeff Koons. Koons has captured a lot of my attention and there is so much to learn by reviewing his career and interviews. It will be interesting to see how this most recent scandal, the non-delivery of nearly $15 million dollars of commissioned sculpture work, will unfold. As a Koons connoisseur I will try to help contribute to this thread! Would love to hear more peoples thoughts on Koons!
