Hi all,

We've been looking forward to this one since we booked it back-to-back with 'Smitten'... way back in early 2007. We believed that much in her, before she had the CHG and Copro shows, as we have been working with her since her days showing at Cannibal Flower way back in the day. We are looking at this one as a really special show for a number of reasons that will become clear once all get to see the show. There will be a very special installation made up of works created on books from the collection of her late mother and we are honored to be able to provide her a venue to bring this idea to life. There will be a number of special happenings around this show... please read on...

(Los Angeles, CA) 'Run Rabbit, Run' is the first solo exhibition at our gallery from Los Angeles-based artist Brandi Milne. 'Run Rabbit, Run' will feature a new fantastical world of whimsy painted with acrylic on wood panels and a collection of hand-painted antique books that will make up a very special installation.

In addition to 'Run Rabbit, Run' in our main gallery, we will also be presenting the debut Los Angeles solo show from Minneapolis based artist Cherri Wood in our project room along with new works on our ‘Fresh Faces’ wall from Los Angeles based artist Alex Garcia.

There will also be a special ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ presented by Thinkspace and Brandi Milne taking place during the opening reception. Details will follow on this soon, but there will be several unique prizes awarded throughout the evening to patrons lucky enough to find one of the special eggs that will be hidden inside the gallery and out during the opening reception.

Run Rabbit, Run from Brandi Milne:
Born and raised in Anaheim, California, Brandi Milne always had a love for creativity. Growing up, she was happily influenced by the oddities of the 1970's and 80's, vintage Halloween decorations, classic cartoons and an abundance of nostalgic child playthings. A self taught artist and illustrator, Milne's work represents a melding of many very different genres while embracing beauty and aesthetic over message or propaganda. Milne has shown at numerous galleries throughout California including Corey Helford Gallery, CoproNason, Gallery 1988 LA and SF, and La Luz de Jesus.

Brandi also recently wrote and illustrated her first book, “So Good For Little Bunnies”, which was published by Baby Tattoo Books. Plans are already underway for her next book project as well.

Artist Bio:
Cherri Wood is a young illustrator that is based out of Minnesota. Her watercolor and ink studies explore various areas of the human psyche such as alienation, childhood idiosyncrasies, and general psychosis. Each drawing contains quotes and dialog culled from a plethora of classic plays and short stories helping to narrate each work in its own special way. She is deeply influenced by independent films, graphic novels, comic art, and photography.

In the new series of works for trouble, clearly a variety of methods and mediums were used in the creative process such as staining patterns created with tea, floral material, caramel soda, and various juice mixes along with acrylic paint and india ink.

Wood has shown with Andenken Gallery, Gallery 1988, Project Gallery, O Contemporary/Opus Underground, and also took part in this past year’s GenArt Vanguard Fair that took place during Art Basel in Miami, FL.

9 out of the 10 artist proofs will be part of a special giveaway / Easter egg hunt. A large number of Easter eggs will be hidden about the gallery (both inside and out) for patrons to hunt for and discover. Each egg will contain a special ticket, good for one of many prizes to be redeemed that evening, including the grand prize, a framed one-of-a-kind original drawing from Brandi herself. Other prizes will include copies of Brandi’s latest book with Baby Tattoo “So Good For Little Bunnies”, copies of her new Gelaskins, and much more.

One of the 10 artists proofs will be hand-touched by Brandi and on view as part of the “Run Rabbit, Run” exhibit and will be available for purchase come the opening reception, but this is the only print out of all 110 that will be available for purchase in any fashion.

Brandi came in the other day and did her part of the installation and we stayed late and got almost the whole show ready to go nice and early. If anyone can't make it Friday, and would like to view the works early in person, please hit me up at [e-mail]

The show is amazing, she's really knocked it out of the park with this new batch, and all together, it's really magical. The front installation room features 22 hand-painted antique books beautifully displayed and there are also 4 four brand new cut-out works, some great drawings and roughly 20 new paintings in "Run Rabbit, Run".

Arrested Motion came through yesterday too, so look for some shots of the install process plus a look at the goodies for 'Brandi's Easter Egg Hunt' in the next day or so there as well.

We will also be displaying some great new works from ALEX GARCIA as part of our 'Fresh Faces' series this month. Throughout this year and next, we'll be showcasing a small amount of curated works (anywhere from 4-8 pieces) from an up and coming artist each month on a wall in our project room, alongside the main artist that will be on exhibit.

Upcoming artists featured as part of our 'Fresh Faces' series include Joao Ruas, Tran Nguyen, Hannah Stouffer, Craig "Skibs" Barker and many more.

These shows will serve as their introduction to our patrons and collectors and will help them to get further exposed to the masses at large via interviews and postings on our site and blog.

Alex Garcia first showed with us back in September 2007, but has been busy building up his tattoo career portfolio for the past couple years, but is now making a return to focusing more on his painting, and we're super excited to welcome him back with a small series of new works.
