With Master McGee's show around the corner at Prism's soon, I just found some nice fresh stuff from BAM/PFA's site: “Throughout his career,” writes Alex Baker in the exhibition catalog, “Barry McGee has continued to surprise and contradict expectations.” Including rarely seen early etchings, letterpress printing trays and alcohol bottles painted with his trademark cast of down-and-out urban characters, constellations of vibrant op-art painted panels, animatronic taggers, and an elaborate re-creation of a cacophonous street-corner bodega, along with many new projects, this first midcareer survey of the globally influential San Francisco–based artist showcases the astonishing range of McGee’s compassionate and vivacious work. After the retrospective exhibition with BAM/PFA, the show continues by traveling to Boston's ICA in Spring 2013, just after Os Gemeos' exhibition there.

wow. that's really beautiful. i just love how he continues to evolve the cluster works. from this early cluster, to the red and white number/letter ones he's done this year. they're all amazing.

Did anybody ever get the pdf of available works from Prism or did the show sell out immediately?

It did not sell out at all, i think theres still stuff available, i know the larger clusters sold pre show to some of prisms 'illusive' buying clientele.
Jen was sending me the PDF but to be honest i have given up trying with that gallery, they don't deserve peoples hard earned imo.

I was visiting my nieces in Berkeley and decided to make a quick stop at BAM/PFA to see Barry's progress for the August show. They don't allow any photography but I was able snap few pics with my iphone oh wow!.. this does look like it's gonna be the mothership of all Mcgee shows... so wish I could see that in person... maybe a flight to US is in order!?

wow thanks for sharing those pictures iqvinder. really is looking pretty special.
i'll be in the bay area a couple of weeks after this opens, so am really looking forward to seeing the installation for myself. makes the scale of the baltic show look small by comparison!
