San Francisco Art Institute opened a group show featuring Barry's work on a same date as his NYC show: from September 12 - Saturday, December 14, 2013, San Francisco Art Institute is showing works by Mission's finest - Chris Johanson, Margaret Kilgallen, Alicia McCarthy, Barry McGee and Ruby Neri

Some really beautiful paintings at Cheim and Read. If you're in NYC it's a must see. Was nice to see the blue chippers appreciating McGee's work.

Cracking images henross. My 9 piece cluster is still one of my favourite pieces in my collection and sits across the table from me every morning at breakfast.

While the NYC show gets all the bells and whistles, I finally got to visit the "Energy That is all Around" at SFAI a couple of days ago with our baby in tow. My significant other and I agreed that this exhibition was one of the best shows we visited this year as they were taken in the early 1990s/late 2000s! Full of nostalgic stuff that left us feeling positive and re-energized after the sleep deprivation from our newborn's sporadic feedings! Since this is McGee thread, I'll just restrict the photos to his works only (excuse the crappy photos as they were taken from my iPhone): (his faceless shaggy hair... detail was superb!) (ca. 1998...now you know where he gets the inspirations from!) (1994 on driftwood) (left of the 3-piece horizontal cluster) (middle of the 3-piece horizontal cluster) (right of the 3-piece horizontal cluster) And here's the extra bonus that I spotted at a local bay area benefit auction recently (and the winning bid was already in 5 digit figure): Happy McGeeishing!

Thanks gamma for the pics. looks nice, and most of them are from his early work? I wish I could make a trip to there. not enough money though... but the show looks great.
Did you check out other group show with McGee at the Asian museum?

thanks for the photos gamma888!.. it's always nice seeing older works and realizing the ways his work evolved in some ways, and stayed exactly the same in another

Just a heads up: I've been collecting handwritten Twist stickers for years and I noticed that lately ebay has been swamped with fakes. Almost every listing for Twist stickers over the last year was for poor fakes, mostly from two or three sellers (who have also sold fake MQ and Neckface stickers). Really shoddy stuff, but amazingly they sold. Not all items are fake, but if you are considering buying one of these proceed with extreme caution.
