Spot on. There's always been speculators but even a few years ago it wasn't that hard (most of the time) to pick up work by young, fresh artists, even if they had some buzz. Now it's a bubble for a lot of artists almost instantly. Anyone with the slightest hype or cool factor or bought by mr x r or whatever goes for double on paddle 8 now. It appears to be spiraling out of control. I think I could easily list 100 new artists whose work is going for double or have stupid waiting lists. I remember reading an article awhile ago about a dealer who was a round in the 90s. Who talks about all the exhibitions and artists they showed and how they thought it was such a big deal at the time. And now 90% are swept under the carpet and forgotten. How will this end? Congrats to those around here who have scored some of these hyped artists. I hope you cash in. For me, it's really made me shy away from collecting, I don't want to get in the middle of all this, feels so much like a scam.

...but I can't buy what I like, I'd have to pay triple at auction or get on waiting lists to buy work by 22 year old artists.
