information for the outsiders group show at the new lazarides gallery in london. should be a must see show. Our new gallery, studios and offices on Rathbone Place, Fitzrovia (or 'NoHo', as it was previously named by estate agents - that's 'North Soho' by the way, not a term describing the discernable lack of 1st Floor 'models' North of Oxford Street) in "swinging London's fashionable West End", is finally due to open next week. Or at least it will be if someone learns how to say to the builders and decorators, "Sorry to interrupt yet another break, I can see you're hard at work on those sandwiches, but you do realise we're opening next week?" in 7 different languages. Regardless of linguistic logistics, we will be opening the (probably still wet) doors of our newly renovated, elegant, five-storey Georgian townhouse to the public on Friday the 15th of May. With just under 4,000 sq. ft of space for exhibitions, studios, and offices to play with, our first show will be the next installment of the Lazarides cornerstone; the ”Outsiders" group show featuring brand new work from Antony Micallef, Bast, Conor Harrington, David Choe, Faile, Jonathan Yeo, JR, and Vhils, to name but a few; as well as some outstanding pieces from some very special guests. Until then, if you see Steve Lazarides on Rathbone Place looking angry and shouting at builders in 7 different languages, don't, whatever you do, say, "What's the matter with you darlin', got the painters in or something?" this david choe piece below is called 'i like my waffles sprinkled with deep throat tears'...

I agree - I much preferred his pieces when they were more figurative.

Some lovely pieces in this show. Gotta give it up to LAZ who always puts together a classy show. Space looks amazing as well. Loved that he broke out some old Banksy canvases from the vault. Those Micallefs looked stunning as well.

crazy rammed show. people were queing to get inside even though they were on the guest list. damn smart looking gallery. the board room on the top floor had some nice older pieces on the walls. banksy canvas' and stuff. it was hard to get a decent look at the art though as there were just so many people in.
the conor piece was amazing. must have been 6 feet tall at least.

Some photos here thanks to Ian Cox. Make sure you check out his flickr for the full photoset. I like how the art is displayed like it was a house that someone was living in.

Nice gallery Is it ok for that Choe painting to be exposed to the sun like that? It looks amazing in that window and sure to grab attention, I just wonder how the paint will react to being pummeled by all that sunlight.

I've added a few more photos to the set since sleepboy posted the link above. The Choe is set back from the window by about 3 feet and with tall buildings on the opposite side of the street it is very unlikely to get any direct sunlight even if the sun does decide to shine one day

I often dont let the sun shine in too much due to my worry of fading.
