Hi everone,
Thanks for the continuing and overwhelming support.
Since there are some people on here who are regulars at buying and selling artwork on eBay, could I possible get some advice?
So far for the auction, we have:
Original Art: Chet Zar - Psychlops (10" x 10") Leslie Ditto - Freed (20" x 16") Sylvia Ortiz - (To be picked)
Prints: A. Andrew Gonzalez - Unio Mystica - Canvas 24x18 inch (edition size 350) A. Andrew Gonzalez - The Oracle of the Pearl - Canvas 32x24 inch (edition size 250) A. Andrew Gonzalez - Yemanja - Canvas 32x24 inch (edition size 150) A. Andrew Gonzalez - Fravashi - Canvas - 36x12 inch (edition size 200) A. Andrew Gonzalez - The Summoning of the Muse - Canvas 30x42 inch (edition size 200) A. Andrew Gonzalez - The Song of Sophia - Canvas 20x25 (edition size 100) A. Andrew Gonzalez - The Virgin Queen - Canvas 15x20 (edition size 50 ) Gary Baseman - Family & Friends - Giclee 18.25"x14" (edition size 50 ) Liz McGrath & Morgan Slade - Nex & Nocturne - Giclee 13"x19" (edition size 15) Amy Sol - We Found Ourselves Being Dreamt - Giclee 8.5"x11" (edition size 300) Amy Sol - Sleeping Smoke - Giclee 8.5"x11" (edition size 300)
Thanks to Chet, Leslie, Sylvia, Andrew, and Tom for the fantastic donations.
The thing is, other than some books and magazines, I've never sold this kind of work on eBay before. Can anyone give me any tips? Should I go with the auction style, or buy-it-now option?
One of my best friends has an eBay shop, but she sells underwear for plus size women, so hasn't been able to offer much insight on how I should proceed.
All the best!
Tom

Tom I'm on holiday at the moment, but when I get back I'll dig a couple of things out for you to help the cause...... Would love to see the mag prosper.

me and my husband sell lot s of old Holland oil paintings and other items on ebay . I have sold only one painting on there before and had good response. what I believe is the best way is to put in up for an auction. What we do is just put it up for an open auction starting at .99 and it has never let us down. But you can put a reserve on it to make sure that you get what it;s worth .I think people get interested and watch the open auctions more because they want to get a good deal, Then after watching the item they start to get emotionally invested and they seem to really want to item. Especially since you are doing for a good cause you might get more than if you just buy it now. but it's up to you. I am not an expert on ebay, but I do know what has worked for us. And just mention in each auction that you have other auctions up for artwork and prints and to make sure for the shoppers to check out your other auctions.

Hey Leslie,
Cheers for that.I think I'll put something at the top of each auction mentioning that it's for Dangerous Ink, and that each piece is a donation from the artist or gallery. My friend warned me to only start an auction at 99c if I'm happy for it to go for that since, occasionally, eBay traffic drops right down, but I don't know myself.
Considering the quality of artwork donated, do you think a $50 starting bid for everything is good?
All the best!
Tom

I would check with the artists about how much to start the bids for their work.

Thanks to all the artists that made donations! It's great to see this sense of community.
I just made a few bids so I invite the rest of the board to beat my lowball bids!

Sorry about the late reply. As you can guess, betting everything ready was hectic to say the least.
The good news is that we're back from the printer, and thanks to the kind effeorts of Leslie, Chet, A. Andrew, and Tom from ExcellentVirtu, the mag is looking absolutely stunning. Thanks again for helping out.
It should hit the UK shelves this week, and the North American shelves the week of the 20th or 27th (depending on how far West you are). Everywhere else should get it around that time as well.
Now to get working on the next issue.
