I'd die for a Kaws original, really loving his tondo pieces.

i agree that the tondo format really fits his current style. i feel they are, in general, more successful works than his more conventional canvases.

I'd die for a Kaws original, really loving his tondo pieces. Im not crazy about the spongebob motif, but I must say that these tonds look very appealing and uplifting.. like em a lot!

Funny that you see them as uplifting as I see them as intended to evoke the exact opposite reaction. Anyhow, I do find them very appealing.

Last I looked it was at $10,000 on Saturday, which means $12,500 with commissions. But that's just the online bidding. I'm not sure when the live auction is but it will probably go up further.

Yeah it was at $9000 last I looked Friday afternoon. I was assuming someone was just waiting to drop a $13,000-$16,000 max. bid on it before it ended but like I said I wasn't around to see it end. IMO if someone got their hands on it for $10,000-$12000 then they got a great deal.

What am I missing here? So the online auction for this piece that ended this past weekend didn’t guarantee the high bidder as the winner? There’s a second live auction for the same painting that the online bidders will now have to compete with?

That's correct. That's how Paddle8 works. Pretty dumb, I know.

I think its more a marketing thing with the two working together. wouldn't be surprised to see this fetch 25k.

Ah ok. My bad. Every piece I've been interested on there has transferred to a live auction, not that I've checked very many.
