www.phillipsdepury.com/auctions/lot-detail.aspx?sn=UK010610&search=&p=3&order=&lotnum=128A long time in the making, but an Ad Disruption-like piece will finally be coming up at auction for the first time. These have been priced exorbitantly high in the secondary markets for a couple years now with no real frame of price reference in a controlled environment to compare with. Not that I question 20-30k being unreasonable for them, as I don't and would readily fork it over for a choice example. But this still should be interesting, even if not a proper Bus Stop or Phone Booth. The concentration in ownership of Ad Disruptions is - or was - pretty unprecedented, as a result of the relative lack of demand when these were produced and made available ten or so years ago. I've been attempting to track down a quality example for well over a year now and have been amazed to come across many folks that at one point had multiple (2-3 or more) pieces, most of which had already been cashed in for a healthy 1000% return on their 2-3k pricings at the '98 Seattle Aero Space exhibit where these took center stage. I've found many ended up in the hands of Brian's friends and acquaintances, as a means of them supporting him early on, as well as many in Asian based collections where he spent a lot of time and perhaps traded and provided as gifts. Interesting that this piece came directly from Brian. I had been told these auctions houses have been jonsing for an Ad Disruption for a while. But shit this piece is weird. Wonder how much above the reserve it'll get.

1000% means 20-30k.
I have to agree with Lowpro. This will be a very interesting sale, although in my humble opinion the piece is weak and all things being equal shouldn't do well. But this is Kaws we're talking about so it will sell.

i think you raise a lot of interesting points in your post lowpro.
whilst i don't deny his execution is good, i have thought that the phenomena surrounding this artist is a 'little emperors new clothes' to say the least. there seem to be a small body of collectors that have vested interests in this artists work and will go to great lengths to protect their assets with hype. i'm not sure either how many of these pieces were released to the public, but i strikes me that a lot of this older / historical work is still held by the artist or his close friends, and that leads me to feel uneasy about the hype that surrounds him.

Interesting piece, but not feeling it at all. Love the pastels and model based disruptions, but some of his work just puzzles me

It will be interesting once his works are loosened up from his friends and close associates, whether the works will continue to go up in value or drop like a stone.

He finally dropped his allotment of Pinocchio and Tweety figures on his site. Yellow Tweety still avail for $195 shipped. Go get em. Glad I held off on the ridiculous upcharges, as I all I wanted was the Yellow in this case.

I saw he dropped them, I got both tweetys after being raped on the pinocchio on TT for 250 but I wouldnt have gotten the pinocchio was sold out instantly. I do however like this style of drop as opposed to others maybe because I was checking my email right when the notice came in, I went right for both tweetys and after check out pinocchio was gone

"Has anyone heard anything about the books from Aldrich? " I have not heard anything from Aldrich since placing the order several months ago, I believe that they will be sending them out late November early December. There seems to be a lot of back and forth about this on other forums but from my experience it was all very straight forward, I purchased the book and will be charged once it is shipped out.

When did you purchase the book? I just checked my emails and I got a confirmation on 9/01/10. I didn't make the purchase on the first day it was announced or anything, I believe it was about a week after initially hearing it was an even an option.
