Hey all,
Planning an out of state move in the next 2 weeks and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with moving a decent sized art collection. I'm considering having a crater come to pack and crate the work which I could then either have shipped or load up onto a moving trailer. Also considered using a moving service such as North American who could pack, load and move on one of their trailers. Not sure I really trust movers to safely pack my collection though. Trying to find the safest, most cost effective solution.
Does anyone have any experiences or advice to offer?
Cheers!

I just shipped most of our collection to LA. I would be very careful trusting a mover to safely move your collection. Basically, every mover will tell you they can do, but I would leave it to professionals. There are a number of art movers who run shuttles throughout the US, and they can pack and pick up your collection as part of their loop. They aren't the cheapest, but that's all they do and you have a much better chance of getting your collection to your new home without problems. PM with the details and I'm more than happy to share all the information I gathered.
Other than that, insurance, insurance, insurance. Best of luck with the move.

i had a pretty large collection moved across the country, San Diego>Phila. I packed everything myself and used an art specific shuttle. It was not exactly cheap, but GPS, climate control truck, air shocks, and they only dealt with art. It was extremely smooth. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
There are shuttles that run from CA to NYC on the regular.
