Any big fans/collectors of photography? can anyone recommend any magazines? not really into landscapes and things like that, but more the darker, more model/fashion oriented types. not exactly fetish, but colorful and unique

black and white is a good one, if you go to boarders there is about 5 major ones I subscribe to lenswork, popular photography, pdn, view camera, and of course b&w.
anything else let me know

There's an interesting article on a fashion photography exhibit called "Weird Beauty" in the NYT today: www.nytimes.com/2009/01/23/arts/design/23phot.html?ref=designIt mentions a bunch of magazines you'd probably like (mostly European). I know a lot of them are carried at Book Soup here in West Hollywood.

Not saying I'm in the same league as the above, but a mod told me to post in here and who am I to argue ;D Here are some of my latest pieces. Not too dark, but lowbrow type of stuff. These two were experiments inspired by Artchival: These are some recent shoots:

For fine art photography (as opposed to "how to" photography), I'd recommend Aperture and Focus. Another promising magazine is Color, which is a sister publication to Black & White, though I've only thumbed through one issue.

Wonderful website I just discovered for interesting photography, with tons of amazing interviews: American Suburb X.

I think this is the best appearance of a highway overpass right after Jeremy Geddes' Freeway piece... Cedric Delsaux the dark lens (Star Wars) series www.cedricdelsaux.com/#

I was watching Iron Man II today and the art piece hanging in the office always intrigued me but had no idea who the artist was. I took the above picture using Google Goggles on my phone and I had my answer in about 2 seconds... forums.macgeneration.com/4855231-post126.htmlOf course I could have just jumped to the credits but my daughter was home sick and in no mood for art trivia. Being new to art this will help my learning curve when I find an interesting piece with little or no details.

I'd never heard of Cedric Delsaux but the above photo was enough for me to want to find out more. His website is fantastic, brilliant images and a whole load of star wars pics.

There are actually quite a few images of hers that resonate with me. Thanks for the heads up. Some of her pieces with the wolf remind me a bit of McGinley's recent monochromatic portrait series with the wild animals. But I'm also perhaps just seeing some similarities, as a result of not collecting many photography artists and my mind instinctively goes to one of the few I'm familiar with. I think those particular shots are far from derivative and she has a style wholly her own. Some very well executed and uniquely composed shots. But I've also got a soft spot for women, artfully clothed in very little , and animals, especially when situated together. I just wish she produced some of her images as C-prints.

Thanks for posting Jessica's work. The work is really interesting but I was totally disappointed she prints the images on rag paper and doesn't release them as a c print. To me it feels like I'm buying a print.
But, speaking of Photography, I should have 3 new pieces in the collection by the end of the week. I'll post when everything arrives safe and sound.
