The Heroes & Villains project is the brainchild of photographers Tatiana Wills and Roman Cho. It has been exhibited at Corey Helford Gallery, Shooting Gallery, and at the Beyond Eden Art Fair.
Four years ago, photographers Tatiana Wills and Roman Cho teamed up for a behind-the-scenes exploration of the rising stars of the popular art scene they saw thriving around them in Los Angeles. Since then, they have developed a collaborative project which not only investigates and chronicles these artists and their confederates around the world, but also brings them to life and captures the essence of their character. The talented artists portrayed in this project display their work not just in art galleries, but also in advertising and design, with comics and animation, on the face of the city and in the underground scenes that visually influence every aspect of our lives.
The project is nearing completion, and will be published as a coffee-table style photography book when it is finished. The book will be a cross-section of the new contemporary art community, with interviews, bios and essays about the movement to add context to the portraiture.
Here are some shots taken today of the Heroes & Villains project at the Beyond Eden Art Fair, in which an LA-centric selection of the portraits was displayed.
