definitely agree on Wong Kar-Wai. his many collaborations with Christopher Doyle over the years have literally changed cinema.

I fully approve of the list so far. You guys have an impeccable taste . I would like to add Chan-wook Park (Oldboy; I'm a Cyborg but thats OK) and Lars von Trier. A lot of people just hate his films, but Dogville, Breaking the Waves and The Element of Crime were among those that haunted me for a long time although I must admit that at times they were just tough to sit through. And Riget II is maybe the best TV series ever.

Went to see "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" yesterday, and it was the most hilarious film I have seen in a long time. I can recommend it if you like both comedy and gore (and have sit through your share of teen slasher movies).

Todd Solondz " storytelling " and "happiness"
sadly everyone on here has far more knowledge and tastes regarding movies then myself. I feel like when I first found this board and knew nothing about art, know I know next to nothing about art and nothing about movies... THANKS GUYS AND GALS. LOL

I feel like when I first found this board and knew nothing about art, know I know next to nothing about art and nothing about movies... THANKS GUYS AND GALS. LOL "Happiness" is a great movie but I found it really tough to watch. And as I would watch anything, be assured that for every good film I watch at least four crappy ones (and must admit that I enjoy most of them). And then there are very few I just don't know what to think of, like "Tree of Life" where I am torn between ultimate masterpiece (2/3) and pseudo-intellectual garbage (1/3).

So I was off the radar a couple of weeks as I was busy watching horror movies at this festival here in Vienna: slashfilmfestival.com/programm-2011/My favorites were Attack the Block (a London teen gang fighting an alien invasion), Red State (Kevin Smith's latest film) and finally The Woman (Lucky McKee's latest), which is probably one of the best films I have seen this year, original, tense and absolutely horrifying, although it is definitely not your typical horror film. I don't want to give away too much, in case someone wants to see it. And finally, Crispin Glover himself stopped by at the festival with his weird "Crispin Hellion Glover's Big Slide Show" which included a dramatic narration of some of his books and a screening of his film "It is fine! Everything is fine". I have to admit it was pretty bizarre but also highly entertaining. If you have the chance to see him perform live, go there. Here you find more information on his show (there is also a short video if you scroll down). www.crispinglover.com/slideshow.htm

I know we were talking about Drive somewhere on the forum. Here's an interesting video from one of the sound engineers on some of the tricks employed and the importance of sound in the telling and overall impact of the story. Good watch. devour.com/video/the-sound-of-drive/

havent been this excited to see a film in a while. gonna hit it up tomorrow when i get back to an area that has a theater with it showing.
she was actually right in front of me going through security at the airport the other day. considered being that guy to annoy her in public, only because she's so new to hollywood and might've actually appreciated the recongition..evidenced from the fact that she was flying coach. was particularly interested in how long it took to put on her leather pants.

the cult internet novel from a decade ago 'john dies at the end' that was produced earlier this year finally sees its premiere at the toronto film fest. so wish i was there. regrettably missed this underground sensation at the time somehow. but can't wait for the ondemand release of the film in december (theatrical release in early jan)..and am flying through the pdf of the book i found online right now. super clever storytelling and fun reading. oh and here's a free 15-page preview to the david wong sequel due to ship in oct, 'this book is full of spiders (seriously, dude, don't touch it)" www.johndiesattheend.com/ThisBookisFullofSpiders_FreePreview.pdftake a few mins and read it, then preorder the book like i did. you can thank me later.
